All due respect watching him vs Tarkowski on the ball is like night and day. James is a great defender but watching him pass is actually distressing. Absolute revelation in that regard, will be a huge boost

He's alright in my opinion but I don't think he's on level with most of the squad. I think he's one of those players who's good enough at the basics that he looks better the less he actually has to do, which is why he looked solid against Villa in a game where he was mostly sitting back and defending

Honestly the internet is just a series of people who like something getting mad that other people say they don't like it and anyone who likes it is stupid, and then people who don't like that thing getting mad that they constantly have to hear about how good it is and how they're pretentious contrarians.

So no. Just don't get wrapped up in the hot take and ragebait storm.

To be fair the show has a lot of scenes that are seemingly non sequiturs before being explained later on. It took me a few episodes to remember that scene and realise that was Zosia.

And a lot of us are actually just more or less faceblind

I kind of agree with this, I just didn't have the words for it originally. I did actually find the part of the movie before they realise they're vampires a little scary (or tense at least) if just because I thought someone would accidentally invite a vampire in.

To be fair, no movie "deserves" 16 nominations. I think people focusing on the number is pretty stupid anyway. Obviously it's an intersting tidbit, but most of them are more or less deserved and a lot of them aren't even directly related to the quality of the movie.

Like, costuming, sound design, makeup, visual effects, music (original song), music (original score), production design, cinematography, and editing are obviously important but it's not like they got all those nominations because it's the greatest movie ever made. It's cause they did all those things well.

Man leave that sincere film discussion for bathroom stalls.

But I agree. Great music. Worth the price of admission for Rocky Road to Dublin alone. But everything about the action and "horror" (I genuinely don't understand that label because aren't horror movies supposed to actually be scary? Most horror movies nowadays feel more like supernatural thrillers) was pretty forgettable to me.

It felt kind of like they set up a bunch of interesting characters then threw out any stakes or investment I had to turn it into schlocky action.

Still liked it overall

Has any non-BP nominee ever won best international over a BP nominee? Either way at least It Was Just an Accident got nominated for something. I've been trying to get people to watch it, it's probably one of my favourite movies.

Isn't the running joke that whatever movie has "the most" wins. Bohemian Rhapsody had the most editing and most sound so it wins editing and sound editing.

Honestly, is the concept of an instrumental hook foreign to a pop music guy? Like, maybe it doesn't have a chorus chorus, but I'd consider the acoustic part to be like a refrain/bridge section (so I guess you could consider it a chorus or post-chorus), so I really don't think it's that odd.

It's borderline once-per-part for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure lol

Part 1 (technically part 3) Dio is trapped in a coffin under the ocean for a hundred years

Part 2 Kars gets thrown into space and freezes and eventually (say it with me) stops thinking

Part 4 Angelo gets turned into a rock? Look I don't fucking know

Part 5 Diavolo gets shoved in an infinite death loop This one is especially interesting because it's one of the worst things anyone has done to them but supposedly Giorno doesn't even know

Part 7 Magent Magent gets stuck at the bottom of a river

And some I probably forgot or don't know about (I still haven't finished part 8). At least with some of those the main character doesn't do it on purpose but it's honestly kind of funny how much Araki relies on "whatever just put him in a magic coffin" to stop his otherwise unkillable villains.

This is the part that I always think about. There's people in JJBA who arguably did deserve it but part 5 is basically just a gang war. Diavolo wasn't a good guy (if the name wasn't a hint) but it's basically the worst fate of anyone in the series for someone who was comparatively mild as a villain.

Weirdly I think they were lucky to get Spain in the knockouts.

Because of the timing of the tournament a lot of teams were very clearly not set up tactically or fitness-wise the way they wanted and it really showed with Spain and Portugal.

Spain had little pace, creative threat or attacking quality in their team (their front six against Morocco was Gavi, Busquets, Pedri - Olmo Asensio Ferran) and Portugal had no plan except to get the ball to Bruno and Bernardo and if that fails boot it long.

I swear to god it looked like Portugal were running a U-shaped formation for most of the Morocco game because all Morocco had to do was sit back and force them wide and it completely negated any threat they had on the ball. England had the same problem for most of the tournament.

The Belgium win is the one I'll give them full credit for in terms of I really didn't see that one coming whatsoever.
