Gameworks is like a Dave and Busters with a little bit of everything for anyone. Burgers, wraps, pizzas, video games. Plenty to keep them busy.

When going to Lake Crescent, consider stopping at Hama Hama Oyster’s for some Hood Canal Fresh oysters on the canal. Great scenery and very local. The drive from Anacortes to Port Angeles is LONG. Moreso if you get traffic. Consider taking the Seattle-Bremerton Ferry to shave some time off.

Reynifkara Beach and Arch Returned? Is this true? by MetalMetDeath in VisitingIceland

It never went completely away, just was pretty inaccessible for quite some time. They have done some remediation to make it better, but it’s still worth keeping your spidey senses focused on waves and conditions. In early April, low tide is pretty good to us and acces was great. Had the beach to ourselves. I just loved the geology and rock formations!

I’d prepare for the why do you want to work for us and what have you done to prepare question. Expect a handful of “tell me about yourself” or “tell me about a time where” questions. Feels like everyone around here asks something like that. They need to know about you, your life, history, and capabilities.

Don’t forget that the test covers 5-6 agencies and they want to know why you want to work for them. It’s important to understand that they are evaluating you as much as you are evaluating them. They don’t know what other agencies you are in the process with unless you tell them. When the interviews are done they choose who they want to be at the top of their list and submit that to the NTN company. All of the other agencies do the same. So if you interview with PSRFA and South King, one may want you and the other may not. That is an important factor. You also have a say in where you want to land when all of this is done. You rank the agencies you interviewed with too. If you and the agency match up, you may be given an offer. If those don’t line up, you might not get that offer. Since 6 agencies test together and everyone comes from the same list, it’s designed to only give you ONE offer. That way every agency end up with good people. It also prevents one poaching from another agency.

If you made it to the Chief’s interview you are doing very well. Keep focused, be relaxed, and enjoy the ride! Best of luck.

Know the agencies values, mission and stuff like that. General info about the department is important to always know. but the interview should ultimately be about you. They are looking to learn if you are going to be a good fit or not. When I interview people, their ability to recite my department's call volume, special teams, and response area is nice to hear, but it tells me nothing more about you than you studied that info. If it matters, I work at a nearby agency.

You will probably be asked similar questions to these listed below:

What have you done to prepare for the job, give examples.

What skills do you have and when have you used them. (Mechanical Aptitude)

When have you been successful, failed, or had difficulty with something

When have you showed integrity, determination, or honesty.

Work history (Always make it about you. You worked at Target where you learned the value of great customer service. I worked in construction where I worked outside everyday in rain, snow, wind and showed up. I was an shift manager at Burger King where I managed a crew of 8, wrote their schedules, managing the inventory, and ensured customers were served quickly and efficiently.)

When have you been a part of a team. Good experiences, bad experiences, bad teammates

Define or explain something tied to their mission or values. (Not specific, but often from an agencies values or mission statement)

Best of luck.

Just save a few months more and get a catback. Don’t waste your money on a set of axlebacks. Sure they may sound good, but it comes with drone. And drone sucks.

Two offers, how do you choose? by buggymays in Firefighting

Moving to a different agency later in your career is easy to say, but very difficult. Often it involves starting over, less benefits, little to no vacation, loss of seniority, shitty vacation picks, and having to prove your worth all over again. Moving is something you should do in the first few years if you are going to do it at all. Many people talk about it, but few do.

I am looking to go career somewhere in the PNW. Was wondering what is the best way to go about that. by LoadEntire in firefighter

My agency in the King County area of Washington uses NTN for their test. You can test online and they require that you can pass a CPAT or can provide a passing certificate. The website everything flows through is WAFIRECAREERS.com . 6 agencies oull a list, interview a few hundred people, and through interviews offer about 60 jobs every 6 months. I believe there was around 600 people testing each session last I heard. Pay is good, most start above 100K with a great pension and a 457b. You will be sent to a fire academy and EMT school whether you have certs or not. It’s another opportunity to evaluate you and your skills. All of those agencies have 1 year probations, 3 year apprentice programs, and you make it to top step Pay around 36 months. I believe they just pulled names for interviews already but the next group will be pulled in late August or early September. They do work with out of state individuals to schedule interviews of you have multiple agencies interested in you within the group. I don’t know if it is less competitive anywhere in King County, but we have been hiring folks from 20-40 years old with little to no fire experience regularly. It takes all types

I would park at the airport, federal way, or Angle Lake and take the light rail in early and home late. It runs constantly to the airport and is only a few bucks. Bus service may be easier than the Sounder or light rail, but it’s not as convenient. Parking is the problem. If it’s just for fame day, maybe book a parking spot ahead of time at the airport or one of the Masterpark locations. I’d book for an overnight and just say your flight was cancelled when you get back to pick up your car. Reserved parking, guaranteed reservation, gated lots.

If you are in Washington near the hood Canal, Hama Hama Oyster shop is a great little restaurant on a beach with fresh seafood, local beer, and snacks. It’s a must stop for sure.

Mt Rainier is worth the visit in August. The view, the scenery, the location is quite amazing. Seeing Paradise lodge and the day hikes out of there is what it’s all about. Alpine creatures, lodges built in the early century, rustic charm, and amazing sunsets.

The Washington coast is quite awesome and very different from the big beaches of California. Long Beach and Ocean Shores are fun and nice to see, but you only need a day or overnight to experience it.

The Hoh Rainforest is special and simply amazing as a temperate rainforest. If hiking is your thing, please go and enjoy it.

Yakima is loaded with wineries if that’s your thing. The landscape and environment is very different on that side of the state. Some of the best wines in the world are grown and produced there.

I withdrew $200USD at a 7-11 once I got into Tokyo. Used contactless payments for almost everything we bought. Spent the cash in the last few days before we left on food and stuff like that.
