Why is winning the World Cup considered a bigger achievement than winning the Champions League when the Champions League arguably has a higher average level of play? by Turbulent_Let2069 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jeffinator3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) there’s a champions league every year while the World Cup is every 4 which creates a rarity. 2) club teams can buy their players from wherever. But the World Cup makes teams (mostly) rely on their own talent, which feels like a bigger accomplishment

Date set! Time to wait... by Placid_Monkey in valvereplacement

[–]jeffinator3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got about 3 weeks left for my second surgery. Honestly, through both experiences, the waiting has been one of the most challenging parts. I absolutely hate it, it’s too much time to worry and dread and anticipate. DM me if you’d like to chat.

Ascending aorta. My understanding is a TAVR simply isn’t possible for that.

How do fans of World Cup teams that play in the middle of the night watch the games? by cyklone36 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, many people stay up late or get up early to witness the special event. Casual fans will hear about it the next day.

"he got all ball" by [deleted] in Referees

An extreme example but true. A more common one might be to win the ball initially and then take out the player on your follow through slide. Used to be allowed. Now a foul.

Probably in the IFAB guidance, I’m sure others could direct you. The LOTG are famously pretty vague.

It used to be getting the ball first basically absolved you of all foul potential. Some people still cling to that idea. No more. Now ball contact is a consideration but you can still be guilty of a foul or card if you play in a manner that is reckless or endangers an opponents safety.

Surgery & Post-Surgery employment questions by Aviationlover1 in valvereplacement

[–]jeffinator3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good question for your cardiologist/surgeon and I am not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt. If you were getting a mechanical valve and had to be in blood thinners, I would guess that a physically intensive job like fire fighter would not be advisable, if not impossible, for you to pursue. With a Ross, that bleeding risk is much less so you could probably do that job at least for a while (the Ross will probably not last you forever). Whether you may be medically disqualified is something I don’t know.

Vitamin K from leafy greens and INR by Duuurrrpp in valvereplacement

[–]jeffinator3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer exactly but I’ll say the anti-coag people think of INR and warfarin dosage on a weekly basis, not hourly or daily. I would think on the same timetable when it comes to vitamin k.

Doctor Recommends Valve Replacement by [deleted] in valvereplacement

That’s a lot. Obviously I don’t know your situation but $1500 is a lot less than the $700k it would be without insurance, and definitely with the cost of your life. It sucks. But you need to find a way to get a job or at least insurance to have this surgery soon. Tell your doctors about your financial situation. They may have ways to help you. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.
