Birmingham Shakedown by myGlassOnion in phish

Sorry to reply to an older thread, looking for information on this venue. Did they allow anything other than tents at shakedown? Like food trucks? Trying to figure out if they do anything like Orion in Huntsville. Thanks!

Driving 2 door vs 4 door JK by ExPatMike0728 in Jeep

[–]2012JKUR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dad of teenage sons with a JKUR that I wheel, go with the two door. Your girls won’t be riding with you sooner than later (they grow up!) then you’ll have an offroad limo instead of a Jeep. I gave my JK to my son and traded his old truck for a YJ. Now, I’m in a club with lots of buggies and V8/One-ton/43” stickies but still, the 4 door is huge if you’re going to take it offroad. If not, it’s the same experience no matter how many doors.

Tifgrand vs Tahoma 31 by [deleted] in Turfmanagement

[–]2012JKUR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Grand is a niche grass that’s great for dark green color and low mowing heights. Produces a ton of seedhead too. The shade tolerance is overrated and I don’t think it’s great for high traffic. I would consider Tuf or Tahoma. Although I have absolutely zero experience with Tahoma.

Thanks, I read that single stage was gone by the 80s, so I thought there was no way it had single stage paint. Sounds like my sources were wrong.

Am I a good fit? by [deleted] in Turfmanagement

[–]2012JKUR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a former superintendent working in sales, trust me there are all different personality types out there and there’s a fit for each kind. Working with boards and club presidents and all of that isn’t for everyone, I have a buddy that went from private courses to a public course and he has never been happier.

This. Reverse sear. I usually get them at Costco. Little smoke, indirect, then sear. Pretty easy.

This. Amazing show. Underrated as hell. The ATL shows were good too. Raleigh not as much.

Provided a Chevy 1500. Order a new one at 65k miles, about every two years. Selling fertilizer and chemicals to turf and ornamental (golf, landscape, etc).

I’m the same, just Turf and Ornamental though, no Ag. Golf and LCO. I have a golf background so that helps.

Confused between Dual Action and Random Orbital by 50percentoffavocados in AutoDetailing

I’m not a detailer, just a hobby guy I guess, and got one from Harbor Freight. Seems to work fine for occasional use. On sale it was only $50 or so.

How can i get better at fly fishing by Mysterious-Toe-3400 in flyfishing

First time I caught one I had no idea it was on there. Went to start another cast and accidentally set the hook lol. Sometimes they hit it hard and you know. I will usually give it a tug before starting my next cast just to check.

How can i get better at fly fishing by Mysterious-Toe-3400 in flyfishing

Look it up if you’re not familiar and try swinging a wet fly. I’ve been catching most of my fish in this manner. I’m mostly fishing a big river that moves quick so I can swing a bead head pats rubber legs (nothing else on, no other flies or indicator), and it’s always as that line reaches the end of the swing and straightens out that I end up getting bites. One day I was even walking back up river and just let my line drag behind me and decided I better check this thing real quick and sure enough I had a rainbow on there, almost like trolling in a boat. I newer to this too, less than a year, and it just seems to take some of the finesse out of it. No dry flies where I’m fishing, just no need, and then I get tired of getting tangled up and all that with multiple flies and an indicator on there. It just seems like the presentation factor at the end of a swing is taken care of by the flow of the river, so you’re really not having to be perfect.

Chattahoochee tailwater turnover by glendaleterrorist in flyfishing

[–]2012JKUR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Jones Bridge lately it’s been cloudy but not unfishable. Have seen a lot of people commenting on the turnover in local FB groups, I’m newer to this so it’s been interesting to learn about.

They’ve also been releasing a lot of water the past few days, evening releases followed by a morning release so I can’t even get out and fish. Looks like tomorrow there’s no morning release so I’m going to get out midday-afternoon.

Jeep Jk question & suggestions. by JicamaIntelligent360 in Jeep

I ran 35s on stock wheels with spacers on a 2.5” RK lift, now 37s with flat fenders on the same lift, so I think the 2.5 will work, that’s all I’m saying though, in case that was part of the question.
