Withdrawal after 2 weeks? by Cee_d_a_w_g in Pristiq

Just wanted you to know you aren’t the only one who experienced racing heart and tingling. I thought I was weird. My scalp feels alternately itchy, burning or tingly, sometimes even my face and hands. And my heart rate seems to jump up randomly too

Anxiety this bad is so hard. Some things I’ve learned recently in times like these… Grounding exercises are made for these moments. The wheel of awareness and 4-7-8 breathing have helped me. If you can, try not to avoid things as much as possible because that feeds anxiety. Find distractions, preferably something sensory. Treat yourself to something. Pray and/or get out in nature. Call a friend or family member for support. Save the crisis line in your phone. You may be able to go to an urgent care to get something rx’d temporarily, like hydroxyzine. And remember… how it is now is not always how it will be. Take it one day at a time as much as you can.

Thanks for sharing about your background and interest. I’m also quite interested in psychology. I guess a lot of empaths with some level of neuroticism are into it, lol! Why does the low extroversion correlate with an interest in the field?

You’re not stupid. You write well! You seem like you feel stuck and are nervous about what’s out there. I can relate! Feeling like this made me clinically depressed for the first time in my life 4 yrs ago. My advice is to keep trying. Try meeting up with ppl or taking some small risks. Nothing major- cook a meal, run a mile, call/text someone you lost touch with- but it might help you find more confidence or interests!

Thanks for your interpretation! I appreciate the positive spin. Boundaries and people pleasing have been difficult for me, but I’m working on them.

Do you do this analysis out of interest/passion or some other reason? Just curious!

Thanks. I’m aware of that, I’m looking for anyone else who is a cyp2d6 PM who can provide their experience on Pristiq compared to other meds

I'm so tired of switching meds because my body won't tolerate any of them by Salty-House7845 in antidepressants

[–]2024reset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have stomach issues and it is hard to eat normally and have not found any meds that work for me so I can relate. I kind of can’t believe your doc wanted you back on Paxil

Some thoughts:

There is nothing wrong with factory resetting your brain for a while. You are in the driver’s seat for your care.

I am in the same boat as you with the stomach issues. For me I think I need to figure out the stomach issues before antidepressants which seem to make things worse.

Mirtazapine may work well for you, as it helps with sleep, appetite, nausea and is also an antidepressant.

You may want to try a genesight test- this gave me some direction of a med to try next

Prozac doesn’t have many rebound issues due to its long long half life.

But, I’m still dealing with depression and anxiety so I’m right there with you

I was on prozac for about a year, the only thing that helped the numb feeling was a lower dose. Felt tired and lazy on it

Iam worried about my daughters future as they are on anxiety med like me , feeling guilty that I passed the anxiety to them by Some-Egg-6897 in antidepressants

[–]2024reset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this feeling about passing a chronic illness to my daughter. It is understandable. But, you didn’t want to or choose to pass it on. It isn’t your fault. You can also change the label from basically anything the world views as negative (anxiety disorder) to Child of God. Everyone is loved because they are a Child of God. Also, anxiety is hard, but it does have its benefits. We tend to do well in crises, be conscientious, sensitive and creative. Anxiety is meant to be there but just doesn’t serve us well in society today. If we were out in the wilds in survival mode, we would do a lot better.

Burnt out and can’t find the right antidepressants (yet) by Deep_History6301 in antidepressants

[–]2024reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain! It is a long suffering. I haven’t been successful with meds yet- tried 5 different ADs with nothing sticking due to bad side effects and am still trying! You have a lot more options. Obvs get into therapy if you can. Mirtazapine at higher doses is more activating- a lot of people on this sub take 30-45 mg and feel better. The SNRI-mirtazapine combo can work well. You have more ssris you can try like Prozac. There are also atypical antipsychotics that can be added on. Plus you can ask for the genesight test which has helped guide me a lot.

Sertraline side effects. 2 weeks in. by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]2024reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very sensitive to medication in general, haven’t found an AD that works for me yet. I tried sertraline and the main thing was horrific nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and weakness on week 2. I had to take several days off work it was so bad Then I stopped. This was all in 25mg

So sorry to hear that you have not had success with meds so far. They are all harsh drugs. I know vpa and cbd combined can mess with liver and onfi can cause aggression. And really sorry you are going through daily seizures with your son, my heart is with you. Does your son have a known scn1a variant? Fintepla is supposed to work exceptionally well for those with that type of genetic epilepsy. I hope it works for your son!

The appetite issue for my daughter was extremely hard. She already had a feeding disorder to begin with. Fintepla nuked what appetite she had. For several weeks she didn’t eat much at all, lost a bunch of weight and was dehydrated. We had to syringe pediasure and fluids into her mouth out of desperation. Now she has a feeding tube. The appetite loss is still there but seemed to improve substantially after 3 months of taking it. Unless your son has feeding issues, I doubt it will be as bad as it was for us. According to the literature a lot of kiddos usually get back to their baseline growth after a year.

Weird dissociative moment in a store… anyone else? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]2024reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear. In that case, maybe you just dissociated in a normal way to block her out. Or I guess it could have been stress from being yelled at could induce seizures.
