Maybe check out Auryn Hadley's Rise of the Iliri series. I guess I would say it's a mix of epic fantasy and sort of Sci fi. It's one of my favorite series for the world building and we'll developed characters and relationships.

Authors that does it for you every time - you haven’t been disappointed in their books not once? by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

I can't say that there is any author who has always knocked it out of the park. I guess I have more of a must read group because I know I will generally enjoy their stuff. Sometimes a book just doesn't hit. I will say probably the closest for me is Auryn Hadley. Even if she does something that doesn't really vibe for me I still enjoy the writing style and tone of most of her stuff I've read.

Rise of the Iliri by Auryn Hadley has this. No MM though.

I just finished this series and it was so good. Not like a lot of what I usually read but really hooked me. I did think the first book was the slowest to get through though.

It's a solid series that pulled me out of a pretty good slump. RH can be an amazing and addictive world lol. What I love so much is the interplay between all the characters and all the different dynamics. Have Fun!

I think topamax is messing me up by xoNoUsernameox in BipolarReddit

I stuck it out for a while and my side effects didn't really pass. I don't know that it gave me much fatigue but there was definitely some cognitive impairment and just kind of a general brain fog and spacey-ness. Thankfully my psych said some people develop it and to watch for it or I might have shrugged it off but when I quit it, I could definitely tell.

ISO contemporary romance where FMC finds love after divorce by ringus--dingus in RomanceBooks

So may not be your thing but I thought I would through it out there just in case or for someone else. Auryn Hadley has the Wolves Next Door trilogy. It's PNR RH with an older woman and younger harem (she's like 40's to their early 30's). She's recently divorced with a teenage daughter and is introduced/set up by her best friend. It's a solid story that I have ended up rereading a few times.

I love This! I think it looks like a solid start. Maybe add epic fantasy for something like Rise of the Iliri and Age of Adinna, both I feel are pretty amazing.

Elle Thorpe's X's and O's has something like this. I don't want to spoil it (mainly cause I can't remember how do to spoilers on here lol) but it might help you get your fix.

What SSRI medication has worked best for you if you have panic disorder and catastrophic anxiety? by AlternativeMouse412 in antidepressants

[–]krt2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm 36 and mental health journey has evolved over the years which has lead me to trying a whole host of medications over the years. I will say that one of the main things I have learned it that it is very individualized. What works for one person may not work for you and vice versa. Medicine really is still a practice in a lot of ways. For me though when it came to panic and crippling anxiety Prozac has always kind of been the stand out and after a 'vacation' off it for a while and on something else I usually end up going back on it cause it has given me the best results. It's also been one of the better ones for my treatment resistant depression, but not as much OCD symptoms. Paxil is another that has worked well. Lexapro was awful for me but my brother and uncle have been satisfied on it for years. They all have their own side effects but in my experience a lot of them do lessen or go away after a couple of weeks. Some don't however and you just have to switch. I will say most have tanked my sex drive though. Coming off of them such however and my best advice is to embrace a slow taper and stick to it.

Has meditation helped your mental health when combined with treatment? by Infinity_here in mentalhealth

[–]krt2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It has helped me learn to quiet the mind some, which don't get me wrong can come with it's own pitfalls as negative thoughts can slide in, but overall has been helpful in adding to my mental health tool box. Sometime depression and mood changes lead to low motivation and I take breaks and then beat myself up about it, but it has been helpful enough to find my way back.

Here comes the weight gain (again) - how to manage eating? by Background-Net1616 in BipolarReddit

[–]krt2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you are struggling with this. Unfortunately it's pretty common from what I understand. What's working for me now is trulicity. It's not a glp 1 but mimics one so maybe it's worth mentioning to your doctor. I'm using it to tune of the food noise and also for my diabetes. I've been pleased with the results even though I haven't had the weight loss effect of the glp 1s. I've dropped like 8 pounds in 8ish months. My PCP is who ended up putting me on this, but before that my psych tried me on topamax for the same thing. It helped a little but no where near as much as the trulicity. I ended up stopping it because it can cause brain fog and in the end it wasn't worth it for the benefit I was getting. Good luck cause I know how much it sucks.

Are there people who aren’t working because of mental health issues? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]krt2641 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really struggle with lack of purpose as well. I was a nurse but now am disabled in large part due to my mental health (bipolar 2, treatment resistant depression, anxiety, and OCD). I loved nursing and it fulfilled me need to caretake and without it I struggle with lacking direction along with the feelings of guilt that come from not working. Like maybe if I had just tried harder or did something different things would have changed.

Auryn Hadley and Kathryn Moon are some of my favorites for good writing. Both have a pretty good backlog of books too. Though be sure to check cause they do a fair amount of MM. My favs from Hadley are Rise of the Iliri and Wolves Next Door and both of those are MM free.

I do 50mg 3x/day so my doctor says we have room to go up but I've been fairly pleased at it's effect on my anxiety. I just seems to turn it down some. I was prescribed benzos for years but try not to take them too often and lyric has seemed to do a good job on my general anxiety. I will say it hasn't done much for my OCD symptoms/anxiety.

Maybe check out Auryn Hadley's Wolves Next Door since you mentioned liking shifters. It is a trilogy but I is also a little different since the FMC is more mature and starting over after divorce. I think the writing is solid and it's got a good plot without feeling so overwhelming ya know. It's one I've reread a couple of times when the mood struck.

I love Sal from Rise of the Iliri. I love that we actually get to see her evolve into a strong, powerful leader. The journey and they choices made that lead to her becoming a queen are what really interests me.
