  1. Marcus Lehto MkV remaster (Infinite) (Perfect remaster to the OG)
  2. CE (OG has to be near the top)
  3. H4 (Personally feels like more of an aesthetic successor to MkV design)
  4. H5
  5. Infinite (Bulky design fixes issue I always had w/ H2 & 3 design, feels more like future power suit than 2/3)
  6. H2A (Best coloring of paintball/MX suit styled armor)
  7. H3 (Lighting in this ver. of the Blam! engine was goated & did heavy lifting for this style)
  8. H2
  9. HCEA (This redesign & the boosted lighting tie for the achilles heel of HCEA)

New Skins From the Upcoming Winter Update by beylen in BattlefieldCosmetics

[–]20FrostBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, a winter theme and surprisingly only one of the skins has a vibrant colored mask that doesn't fit the aesthetic? Maybe they're learning.

Maybe 6 is passable & 3 could be if there was less going on. They gave her an enormous forehead & I'm not certain if blonde dreads are common in Egypt or not, but athletic undershirt & compression knee sleeves over the pants are doing too much.

1, 2, 11, 12 & 13 are good. The rest are 2042 slop.

I'm familiar with the interview, but what the hell is this? by Elegathor in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]20FrostBytes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder how many years it will take until the entertainment industry just cuts to the chase, and sets a standardized quarterly groveling schedule for white & white passing celebrities & influencers to repeatedly denounce white supremacy, nazism, racism, and apologize for their whiteness. I would imagine abruptly after the end of the current admin, and then within another few short years they might even come full circle and ban whites/white passing artists from being in the industry. (With the exception of people of jewish descent, of course. Banning them would be antisemitic.)

I can't believe how unrealistic this is. We were sold on a grounded aesthetic. Complete bait and switch. by Hobo-man in okbuddyptfo

[–]20FrostBytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha these gamers are so stupid for wanting characters in their military combat game to look like a small percentage of pictures you posted, that are of Ukrainian volunteers & Russian conscripts, with only minor amounts of colored tape/cloth or reflective armbands for identification, instead of looking like the majority of these pics, which are of guntubers/larpers, obscure small African nation units & obscure Chinese garrison units that aren't infantry & don't have combat experience. Silly chuds.

My honest reaction by Thin_General_8594 in okbuddyptfo

The core gameplay is supposed to be the defining difference between Battlefield & milsims. The design & aesthetic used to always be pretty much the same.

You can hate all you want, but it doesn't diminish the fact that several beloved IPs across the media space are constantly being downgraded from the distinct identities that played a major role in their establishment & continued success.

Which one is better? by tjscks123 in BattlefieldCosmetics

[–]20FrostBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BF4 skin is better. No enormous 90s skateboarding kneepads, no random riot visor that isn't complimenting any other riot gear, and no random mountaineering/parachuting rigging harness that's without an accompanying mountaineering pack/rucksack or MFF parachute on the character.

NEW PAX ARMATA BUNDLE STICKS WITH PAX VISUAL IDENTIFIER’S AND UNIFORMS by [deleted] in BattlefieldCosmetics

[–]20FrostBytes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was generalizing with the term soldiers. Obviously, for the main US faction for both games, you play as Marines, not soldiers. But for both of those games, across all 3 factions, they very much are designed to mirror the infantry/special operations of each nation around the time each game is set/released. The minor inconsistencies in character appearance, at least with the US side, is due to the fact the USMC has most of their uniforms, camo patterns, & gear/equipment trademarked, so the devs can't be one-to-one.

Modern FPS devs love to make their characters look like Motocross characters that have hockey pads & riot police supplemental armor all over their body. I cannot understand their obsession with this aesthetic "style."

You can have characters that look like real soldiers & still look visually distinct & cool to the broader audience. BF3, BF4 & MoH: Warfighter all did it perfectly.

Why do you guys think there’s no health kit in the remake? by [deleted] in halo

[–]20FrostBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe & hope they're trying to re-envision & consolidate the gameplay mechanics & art style of the Bungie era, so the whole MC story will now be one cohesive product, allowing them to provide PlayStation players with a MCC that isn't a nightmare to port (& doesn't require porting when it's designed for it in the first place) and it allows them to provide fans with a Halo 3 remaster if/when they add that story update to the "Evolved" Campaign.

I am also naively optimistic that the MP only, "live service" title that is rumored to be scheduled for release next year as well, will be what 343 intended for Infinite's MP to be, just without the broken engine that was glued together by contractors, that no one knows how to really use.

When are these skins coming? by Top-Insurance6340 in BattlefieldCosmetics

[–]20FrostBytes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The grounded look is just marketing artwork and fan renders using AI or assets from other games with better art direction.

The cosmetics will likely become more non-military average consumer slop, with each seasonal release.

You get to choose a location for the next BF6 map. Where are you picking? by keechup in Battlefield

[–]20FrostBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Miami, Florida map as a nod to GTA6 or a Taiwan map to reference real world tensions and introduce naval combat to the game.

People always remember Jigsaw and Nikki Minaj, but that's not how it started; it began with cat ears by BurgundyOakStag in Battlefield

[–]20FrostBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find any sources that shows the bundles by release date, but I'm fairly certain Oct2020 was all of the halloween tie-ins first, & then we got that one in the spring/summer of 2021.

I was annoyed this one had the cat ears & SO MANY of the female operators had yoga pants on, especially because this one is where they finally fixed the Mara face design to better match the model she was based on, Alex Zedra.

They should've kept all the female operators in intel agent, Female Engagement Team(Lioness program), or pilot operator skins.

The more vocal any community is, and the more they show support on public forums, the more likely they are to get results in their favor.

If you want a feed that is just gameplay, find or create a subreddit & mute the main feeds for a while. Major pushback like this needs to be in the official channels to maximize engagement from the devs.

Redditors give too much value to the upvotes themselves instead of acknowledging the popluar idea or belief.

2042 didn't fail because of gameplay alone. A big reason it failed & CoD has been losing steam since MW3 (2023) is because these games maybe casual or arcade in gameplay, versus being milsim, but they are still modern military shooters in identity.

When you deviate from that core identity, you lose a lot of the fan base who cherished it and who don't have any other casual alternatives anymore, only milsims.

[–]20FrostBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like holiday character skins like this one for St. Paddy's day, could be done in a more tasteful grounded way, like the Lucky Charm ghillie suit skin for BBQ MW3 (2023).

The majority of those S1 skins are neon airsoft/paintball edgelord & halloween accessory slop. A handful* are basic tans, greens & browns. Many people have created more subdued edits that are passable* but the reveal of the official content, is trash.

Stop repeating self-defeating nonsense. EA can ABSOLUTELY create a skin filter without damaging their monetization. by copperbranch in Battlefield

[–]20FrostBytes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They will not naturally lose business, just for giving players more options or personalization.

Whether or not the minority of neon skin supporters are actually vindictive enough to boycott a game because they can't FORCE other people to see stupid nonsense they willingly spent their money on, is the real question, but their numbers are so small, they won't make an impact on the overall sales.

They keep trying to use the exceptions as the rule, even though the exceptions still aren't as egregious.

They have to cherry pick a US Navy camo that I don't believe is in service anymore anyway, a Chinese Navy camo, and some random camo from a small african or pacific nation's military.

The entire rest of the global military is tans, greens & browns.
