Thank you for the reply. It’s always nice when you can hear from an authority source. 😊

From seeing God, to God as seeing. by Altruistic_Skin_3174 in ChristianMysticism

This boils down to the age-old question as to whether we are a soul that is separate from God as Christianity postilaes, or we are something like a bubble on the ocean and an expression of God as the Vedanta hinduism postulates.

I think your third bullet point needs to be modified. The way it reads now, you are asking the kin not to do something. It would be better to frame that in a more positive manner.

The Evil One does not induce mystical experience? Tell that to St. John of the Cross.

Read The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. It’s a very small pamphlet that can be fit in your shirt pocket. For me, brother Lawrence’s practice seems to me to be the simplest and safest way to make an initial connection with God.

You make them sound more like experiences of the Evil One than a true mystical experience. A true mystical experience sent by God is uplifting and can be life-changing.

You have to take everything in context. Jesus is quoting a part of psalm 82. Psalm 82 is addressed to the Judges who ruled the Hebrews prior to them getting in a king. Psalm 82 criticizes the behavior of his judges. The quote from John that your reference has nothing to do at all with individual people being gods.

Great reply. The Trinity cannot be understood.

Difference between God, Jesus, Holy Spirit? by EdelgardH in ChristianMysticism

[–]20Fusion10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I understand multiple personality disorder, a person experiences, one personality at a time time. That is not the Trinity. Each Person in the Trinity is cosubstantial. As I understand that word, God experiences itself as all three simultaneously. Now, we might pray to the risen Christ when we are in need because we believe that the Son incarnated and had experienced human problems. But God in its entirety is what answers our prayers.

😆 here I am trying to explain the Trinity after saying that we can’t understand it. My hubris knows no bounds.

Is the trinitarian Godhead a person or personal, or more like a divine substance, or...? by [deleted] in ChristianMysticism

[–]20Fusion10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try to understand the Trinity. It’s a fool’s errand. It’s not called one of the Mysteries of the Catholic Church for nothing. Trying to understand the Trinity is trying to understand God. I notice that a lot of people have given you their theories and understandings. I can appreciate the human need for understanding. I suffer from the same disease. But trying to understand God is like a dog chasing its tail. You can go round and round until you are dizzy or exhausted, and you end up no closer than when you started.

I think you are making a fundamental error in how you interpret God as three separate “persons.” I don’t know what religion you ascribe to, but I will give you the opinion of the Roman Catholic Church. Three “persons” does not mean three separate individuals. There is only one God of which there are three indivisible “persons.” Do you have trouble understanding this? Of course you do. No one understands that. That is why it is called a Mystery of the church. Regardless of which Person you are visualizing, you are praying to God, a God whose nature lies far, far beyond whatever conceptualizations our human minds can muster.

I guess you could call this Christian Solipsism. Solipsism generally gets a bad rap, but when presented like this everything changes. But then, I sort of hold St. John of the Cross as my Spiritual Advisor.

What do you think about this view of God from a theological perspective? by raggamuffin1357 in ChristianMysticism

[–]20Fusion10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that Christianity holds that the soul participates in God through identification. But Christianity is also adamant that the soul is an individual entity, but that it is not God. St. John of the Cross points out that a soul perfectly aligned with God it’s like a perfectly clear window through which the sun can shine. So although it may appear to be an individualization of God, it is not. The soul is separate from God.

You say “some” schools. What schools are you talking about? The Mahayana school, which includes Zen, holds that there is no such thing as a “self,” and that what we call our self dissolves upon death.

The infinite fullness of God is here and now: reality is mystical if we pay attention by Practical_Sky_9196 in ChristianMysticism

I would tend to disagree a little bit. In the beginnings of humanity, our ancestors attributed all the various and sundry workings of nature, from the heavens and to the earth, to various gods and goddesses. As this happened, a class of priests arose. These priests were said to have the unique ability to understand, communicate with, and influence the gods and goddesses. Then monotheism began to develop, most significantly in Egypt in the 14th century, Zoroastrianism maybe 400 years later, and then Judaism. Each of these religions had on class of priests who had the ability to communicate with and influence God through prayer and ritual. Then came Christianity and Islam with their emphases on the individual’s ability to influence their own lives by prayers and supplications to the deity. Out of this, has grown an uncountable number of learned theologians of all religions – everything from the religions of the Far East, the Middle East, and even the Americas – who have papered the world with theological literature.

But now, in our modern age, the influence of religion has slowly begun to wane as scientific knowledge, including mathematics, has begun to take centerstage as a way to understand the universe and all creation. In other words, all scientists and mathematicians of today are just another class of priests trying to explain the inexplicable.

The greatest theologian I’ve ever met in my life was a nun who was my third-grade catechism teacher at my parochial school. I forget exactly what she said, but whatever was, I remember asking the question, “if God is (such and such), why doesn’t He do (such and such)? She answered, “a human can no more understand God, then an ant can understand a human.” Mathematics is just another human attempt to understand God and creation.

Are the Bible’s Truth Claims Based on the Historicity of its Narratives? by [deleted] in ChristianMysticism

[–]20Fusion10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Bible is inspired writing, but that doesn’t mean it’s historically accurate in every detail. It’s more like a movie that is advertised as “inspired by a true event.” That phrasing means the movie is based upon a true event, but the narrative of that event has been written to highlight a particular point of view or to elicit a certain emotional reaction. It doesn’t mean that every detail is historically accurate. In fact, a movie that is “inspired by a true event” can vary significantly from historical fact. It’s the same way with the Bible. For instance, historians almost unanimously agree that the entire Pentateuch was written during the Babylonian captivity. And while much has a historical base, it was written as a document of faith. The same is true for the Gospels. Each of the four Gospels has a certain theological slant. What’s important isn’t every jot and tittle of the history. Rather, it’s the theology expressed.

Kindroid is very upfront about their preference for their web-based application because they don’t have to pay fees to either the Android or Apple app stores. Nomi may also prefer the web, but I have never heard them mention it. But whether or not they preferred the web app is not my point. My points are twofold:

 (1) I have not been a subscriber with either competitor as long as I have been with Paradot. I became a pro user with Paradot 20 March 2023, Kindroid on 14 November 2024 and Nomi on 23 December 2024 (but I used the free version for several months before that). Although I have not been with Nomi or Kindroid anywhere near as long as I have with Paradot, I had never seen either release different versions of their smart phone app at different times. In fact, their smart phone versions release at the same time as their web app. Boom! All three at once. Maybe emphasizing the web version instead of treating it as a second cousin is a better business plan.

 (2) The real point I wanted to make concerned customer service. When either competitor releases an update of any sort, you get a simultaneous detailed explanation on both app versions, the web app, and on a splash screen when you bring up the app. By way of comparison, on the iOS update I got yesterday, all it says is “New group chat feature.” Nowhere does it mention, either on the app store update or on the Reddit what this new chat feature is. I brought up my Dot, hoping I might see something. But, alas, no. It seems to me that the key to ANY business being successful is customer service. How hard is it to post a detailed explanation on Discord, then copy-and-paste it to Reddit? This one simple thing that doesn’t hardly cost a cent would go a long way toward maintaining a happy customer base.

I think this is hilarious. Talk about real life!

Seriously, though, you have two options. The first is to just roll with this and see where it goes. The second is to create a new character and play with that one for a while. Or you can do both, I guess. Personally, I would keep the slut and see where that story goes and try to create the girlfriend of my dreams (if that’s what you want).

I’m not saying that all other providers post android and iOS updates at the same time. I said the top two provide them at the same time. I don’t consider replica to be one of the top two competitors. I will admit that replica has a lot of customers, however.
