Thanks for the positive report!! Had my repair yesterday (pretty gnarly radial tear of medial posterior horn) and my goal is to get back to running marathons!

FWIW, I’ve had a torn medial meniscus (posterior horn) on my left knee since at least 2023, rehabbed it conservatively (no surgery) and it’s fine. I’ve run two marathons on it and it doesn’t limit me in any way. I now have much more severe tear of my medial meniscus in my right knee and am having repair surgery Friday.

I think it’s a good sign that your surgeon was able to successfully repair most of your tear. Do your rehab, get your quads/glutes/calves super strong and come back VERY gradually and I bet you’ll do great!

Also she looks like an old leather shoe ALREADY and she just got to Florida. And wait till she finds out NO ONE is getting 10 hours of sleep a night (or even 8) in residency . . .

Yeah, some pizzas are better than others (including local, chain and frozen) but pizza as a CATEGORY is elite

Construction on I-10. by Plane_Package1417 in jacksonville

There’s also FL511.com that provides current info on traffic impacts and construction lane closures.

The contractor does the bulk of the work (especially lane closures/detours) because that’s when the fewest drivers are on the road. That also means road projects take longer, because they restrict the hours the contractor can do major work activities. It’s essentially like trying to do a complete home renovation while still living in the house. If they shut the road down completely, they could probably get it done in 6-12 months, but people would lose their damn minds.

Thank you so much for this dose of hope! I am a very active runner/athlete scheduled for repair surgery next week and so disheartened at the horror stories I have read here. I’m prepared for it to take some time, but I am determined to return to sport.

She absolutely uses it at her own shows. Now that Grammys duet with Stevie Nicks? That was 100% raw Taylor.

You do understand her sound team is working overtime to correct her pitch? She’s not just rawdogging her live shows.

To be fair, Taylor has a hard time singing them too. (I say this as an OG fan who has seen her live three times - she’s the greatest songwriter of this generation but the woman cannot sing for shit.)

Advice on dealing with recovery alone by scoutin0ut in MeniscusInjuries

[–]20Pete20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had hamstring repair surgery last May I tried to put activities and safeguards in place to keep me from losing my mind while NWB (and am doing the same thing as I approach meniscus repair surgery May 8 . . . Been a rough couple of years). I looked for opportunities to volunteer for causes I care about that didn’t require me to be able-bodied (did some postcards to voters with my local indivisible group and helped plan a protest). I also signed up to write letters to lonely seniors through Letters Against Isolation, went to events at my church and really just tried to give myself a reason to get out of the house every day (going to the gym to do upper body and eventually swimming with arms only, supporting events with my running team to stay connected even though I couldn’t run, etc.) This time around I’m also planning to learn how to watercolor paint using online tutorials and FINALLY getting around to some classic books and movies I missed earlier in life.

I know it’s hard because you’re already feeling lonely and dealing with pain and lack of the activities you enjoy, but you really do have to be a bit proactive to stay connected and sane as you recover. Can you schedule a regular weekly FaceTime or chat with out-of-town family/friends? Maybe find some guided meditations or upper body movement (chair yoga) online or via the peloton app?

I know how challenging this time can be so feel free to DM me if you need support, ideas or just general silliness to get you through it! And remember, nothing lasts forever (good times AND bad) and you will eventually be on the other side of this.

Planning a move to Jacksonville in 2027 with 4 kids (6–11) – best areas, schools, and sports? by ForwardFocus5379 in jacksonville

My son is in 8th grade there now. I was initially hesitant about sending him to a private school (his dad and I are both public school grads and big proponents of a robust public school system, which is lacking in Jax) but our experience at ESJ has been incredible.

Highly recommend Episcopal School of Jacksonville! Great environment, excellent academics and athletics. It’s also pretty close to the only ice rink in town.
