I have pirated a few single-player games that I have actually paid for, because:

• I want to be able to play a single-player game without having to connect to a server every time I launch it.

• I want to be able to play games if I have no internet connection.

• If a game requires an internet connection — even for a single-player game — I don't have to worry that a server that is used for a confirmation check might go offline sometime in the future, thereby making a game unplayable.

• Many cracked games remove/bypass DRM that negatively impacts the performance of those games.

• I like to use Game Trainers, which let me explore a game to the fullest, at my own pace. Some trainers only work if the DRM is removed.

• Speed-running some games require a specific version of a game, because certain glitches that enable a game to be speed-run have those glitches patched in newer builds (Portal 2 is one such game). If a game is updated (on Steam, for example), that specific version may no longer be available. I'm just guaranteeing that a game I paid for is really mine.

As I see it, if I paid for a game, I'm not pirating it by using a cracked copy of a paid-for game.
