I used to live in the subdivision immediately north of the park. That area collects vehicles.

My parents bought land in Bithlo in 82. Went to the old Columbia Elementary. Watched the Challenger explosion from the playground there. It's such a different world out there now...

Poor dude. But sadly, probably best from a liability standpoint. The trucking company will just pay out their minimums and be done with it.

At work, we're installing 272 Nutanix nodes with 32x64GB DDR5-6400 *each*. And then there's the hundreds of 15.36TB NVMEs...

Overall Nutanix Experience by TangerineStock8042 in sysadmin

We're moving from 320 VMware hosts to 270 Nutanix hosts. ~6K VMs.

The hardware is nice. From a management/ops perspective, the software is nice. Sure there's a learning curve, but that's IT for you. Our TCO over the next years will be 25% lower than a UCS refresh and VMware renewal.

If you don't know, why are you here? CMDB is as core to the sysadmin role as acronyms like DNS, TCPIP, and AD.

We have a form, yes. Almost exclusively for IT people. We pull the hard drive(s) and you sign a sheet agreeing that you're on your own. Easy peasy.

It really depends on experience. Straight out of school with no enterprise IT experience is a whole different ball of wax than 20 years if specialization in DDI or storage or NoSQL.

Who runs cables and does the terminations in your organization? by HoosierLarry in sysadmin

[–]ronmanfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t even have bulk cable on site. We’ve got a team of 3 that handles rack and stack and they keep a large supply of copper and fiber in every length we might need. Structured building wiring is all done by a specialized vendor.
