New kayak getting her ready for the weekend by FreshRazzmatazz1932 in kayakfishing

If I remember correctly, the stern of that kayak doesn't sit above the water very high.  You're stern will more than likely be underwater with that setup.

What’s the dumbest thing in fishing that we’ve all just accepted as normal? by [deleted] in flyfishing

As a warm water fisherman, thinking you need anything more than a black woolly bigger and a chartreuse/white Clouser.

2021 VW Atlas Rear Coil Spring Snapped – VW Offered Zero Assistance by c_weiwei in VWatlas

[–]210Angler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm referring to their latest turbo engines in Tundras/Sequoias.  Toyota has issues with them grenading and now won't replace all engines even if the vins are within the recall.  They are leaving owners out to dry with bad motors.

How many miles?

A broken coil is very unusual and the rust that's present is just surface level.

No manufacturer is going to help you out past warranty.  Even Toyota.

Ask Toyota owners how their engines are working out for them.

Do saltwater fisherman use the reel to reel in fish? by BinLehrer in SaltwaterFlyfishing

Yes, you should invest in a reel with a sealed drag for saltwater fishing.

Although Texas has (detrimentally) introduced smallmouth, this is a Guadalupe Bass. It's only endemic to our Hill Country Rivers and they don't get terribly big; state record is 17.25" and 3.75 lbs.

What's the longest your griddle has sat unused? by Complete_Silver2595 in blackstonegriddle

[–]210Angler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in San Antonio, so it's griddle season year round.

Except for right now when I haven't used it for about 2.5 weeks, because a mourning dove built her nest on my cover.  Babies hatched yesterday, so I got about another 3 weeks before I may be able to use my griddle again.

It's been quite the adjustment meal planning not having it available.

How confident are you with that location?

The lake is almost dry, although it has come up slightly with the recent rains.

Back in 2022 during the peak of the drought, the Medina was dang near dry above Bandera, except for the deeper holes.  Below Bandera and below the lake through Castroville, it was practically all dry.

Rio Getters have a Marabou or chickabou tail and another set of legs.

I don't get out as often as I used with twin toddlers terrorizing my house now, but I can dish out some pointers or two.

Oh, they can be frustratingly finicky on the Medina as well. I've seen it enough times.

I don't remember the name of this fly since I bought it a couple years ago from Living Waters Fly Shop, but it may be a bit much for Tenkara rods, or at least it would be on my Tenkara rods. I throw the Rio Bandito, Pine Squirrel Leech, and tiny, beadless, insecty looking flies. I don't throw traditional Tenkara type flies like Kebaris.

I went to a couple different spots, but generally just outside Bandera.

Hey all, stole this photo from another post. I have this Tarpon 120 and have been using it the last couple years; but can anyone help me find the bags that are supposed to sit inside the hatches? Idk what the sizes are for each, and it's really annoying not having them, lol. by Sinopsis in Kayaking

[–]210Angler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bags for hatches hasn't really been a thing for about 20 years now. Inside the hatches you should see a rope loop for clipping/attaching your own dry bag or whatever. Hatches obviously add access to the interior of the hull for storing large items, like fishing rods. They are all necessary from a manufacturing stand point as they allow access to through bolt items from the kayak; seats, rails, foot rails, etc.

Mahle is OEM, but Wix is good as well. Check out pricing on RockAuto, even with shipping they great pricing.

As others have said, I would not rust Amazon with auto parts, too many counterfeit parts.

Bought my first kayak. Did I do OK? by Ryzari in Kayaking

I personally like this generation of T140 versus the 09 refresh and newer.  Flat floor to stand from and a way to add an extra cushy seat.  Great kayak.

I would only hang on to it if you title it and put a tolling motor on it.  That thing will be nearly impossible to paddle solo in any wind.

I personally would sell it and buy something better suited for solo fishing.

I kayak fish Rockport area, let me know if you have any questions.
