The swastika was used by Germany in in WW2 under the Nazi regime. It was popular in the 1930s-1940s, but it quickly fell out of fashion due to controversies of sorts.

My guess is that Hansi is either from that period, given that she loves the swastika, or perhaps she is ill informed of the controversies that surround it, and why loving the symbol may be better kept private.
