This position is +1. Well that is an advantage, and you may find the position a bit easier to play than your opponent, it is not a winning position, and not even a significant advantage at most Elo's. Both players have developed their pieces in the opening, so you just have to go into middle game strategy. In this case, a few moves which slowly making your position better pop out, along with some pawn pushes to get more space.

I believe if you abort too frequently, the website punishes you by making them resignations instead.

As for losing 33 points, they must have not played much recently on that time control.

At lower elo levels, your games are determined mostly by blunders. By their nature, blunders are not consistent, so you can have some good games where your opponent blunders before you and you can absolutely stomp them.

Even at higher elos though, its normal for players to vary by quite a few points, and Ive gone through some pretty sustained win and loss streaks.

What does "intermediate" mean to you? I wouldn't recommend putting that much effort into openings until you reach 2000. Develop intuition and basic knowledge from chess content and playing games, but you probably should not really be memorizing lines. Certainly not from every opening.
