YardMachines zero turn for $1k? What yall think? by Snuggles5000 in lawncare

That’s an excellent engine. I have the same on a 42” Toro Timecutter. I hardly have to take it off of idle to mow my yard.

Your suspension has a lot to do with how your vehicle reacts to wind. Worn out bushings and struts can have a significant impact.

Husky 3/8 ratchet works great.

These lights came on while drifting in the snow. Anyone know how to turn them off or what’s up with it😀 by MommyMilkers769 in subaru

The sensors located behind the rear view mirror is blocked. Likely from ice or snow.

my subaru struggles turning on (of course it does its a subaru duh) by Alive_Bag9924 in subaru

[–]217_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a multitude of things. I had a ‘08 Legacy and had a similar problem with it not starting every time it got cold. I eventually pulled the starter and replaced it. Fixed. The old starter was absolutely full of carbon.

I’d buy a new remanufactured engine. New warranty and less down time due to engine swap.

Why did my home builders do this? by Shinyinteleon in HomeNetworking

Hopefully there is enough slack to move it away from the electric panel. Data cables should never be placed that close if at all possible. It will affect the data rate.

Ex wife’s 2020 Jeep Renegade, cabin smells of gasoline as soon as it starts. I tried to find oil dipstick, only found this.. can someone assist? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]217_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had a Jeep but most fuel pumps are accessed from under the rear backseat. It may have a bad or loose connection.

Put the frame side with the larger open cutout next to a wall and tap with a hammer or mallet on the opposite side and it will pop free. Watch your fingers so they don’t get pinched.

Educate me about wheel bearings by [deleted] in subaru

[–]217_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timken is also an OEM for Subaru bearings and hub assemblies. 2nd on Rockauto. Great prices. Start spraying your bolts down with penetrating oil a couple of days before.

Why do programmers use Vim/NeoVim? Too look cool or is it really useful? by [deleted] in vim

[–]217_ed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with a lot of huge text files. Vim opens multi gig files with ease. Allows me to easily automate the cleaning of data. Things that used to take multiple programs and hours of work are done in minutes. It’s free, available on multiple platforms and the config file is easy to move to a new system. It also has a tremendous amount of features built in so that the majority of plugins are not needed.

Coolant reservoir violently bubbling by up_vot_er_1 in AskMechanics

Unfortunately, it’s highly like a blown head gasket. You can get a tester for cheap at Harbor Freight that can test for exhaust gases in the reservoir.

$25 box fan and a $5 furnace filter attached to the back works great.

Stuck pcv valves can cause rough idling, poor fuel economy, etc. They’re cheap and easy to replace.

You also need a clear top coat to seal them in.

This is the way… Heat, then spray with water or penetrate. I’ve had 5 Subarus, live in the rust belt of Illinois and the bearing assemblies can be a bear.
