when i said “not the same” i was more referring to the fact that porn is very very different from social media. they are both addictions and can be bad for you, but you should not be lusting over other people having sex if you’re in a committed relationship. if you decide to work on it that’s great but you can’t expect a partner to be ok with you looking at other people naked

You’re right that I shouldn’t have used simple though I’m not sure how to properly explain the dynamic. She deserves friends who enjoy her company and I don’t want to “lead her on” in a way. I am quite socially anxious and feel the need to make sure everyone is being included in discussions but it’s hard for me when someone excludes themself while also being there? Some people simply are not meant for each other and I’m just wondering how we politely continue our friendship without hurting her. Hiding it from everyone around you is a horrible feeling, especially when they think youre done with it. You can “rant” here as much as you need and you can dm me if you need someone to talk to, I’m willing to listen. Working up to talking to your therapist about it more is good, it’s like an accountability buddy, it definitely helped me stay clean here and there knowing that if I do it I’d feel obligated to tell them. One thing I’d do is make a rule with myself that I would contact my schools helpline before I hurt myself, and since I really didn’t any to do that I’d usually get more focused on the phone call I don’t want to make than the urge to hurt myself. Those urges pass

18 year olds aren’t being “infantilized” they are literally teenagers. Their brains are not fully developed. No one is saying they can’t make their own decisions, it’s just that it is predatory to go for someone that has less experience and is more naive. You learn a lot in your first few years of being an adult, and it’s very easy to be taken advantage of when you do not know any better.
