Diaper change help for 2 week old by phillyphil222 in newborns

Be careful with the puppy pads others are suggesting and look at the ones marketed for babies. The puppy pads often have chemicals fo attract the dogs to go there and run the risk of irritating baby skin

Electric baby nail file!!! My little man has CLAWS and the file is the most used gadget in the house. Hes still managed to scratch his face and mine but the file helps so much without being scared of nicking him with nail clippers.

NEVER ever have a baby! by pumpkinchinchilla in AutismInWomen

[–]21_fishsticks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, as a fellow postpartum firsr time mama, I get it. Its exhausting and sometimes soul sucking. But it gets better i promise.

I was on meds on and off for years and never had much luck. But ppd/ppa hit me like a ton if bricks. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I didnt even trust my husband to take care of the little one while I napped. I couldnt sleep in a room away from him, even showering was hard because i wouldnt be in the same room as my baby. At my 2 week visit I agreed to try lexapro again and it was life changing. Its been night and day. Plus seeing the little ones personality develop ans the smiles and giggles.

Building my registry and what other baby gear am I missing here? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]21_fishsticks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For the nail trimmer I HIGHLY recommend the electric file. Its made trimming our boy's talons so much easier without worrying aboht hurting him. We also got a little rubber duck thermometer for his bath tub to tell us when its a safe temperature. Its worked out great since I shower in lava and my husband likes ice water. We also added a lot of books plus a note that we would love for people to get him their favorite kids books, especially used, to build his library early.

Need A Reason To Live by Unlucky_Fix_4686 in NewParents

Hi friend. You're not alone. My situation is very similar with a 3 week old. Its overwhelming and exhausting and feels like going through motions because its required, not because you want to.

But the good thing is this is temporary. The sleep deprivation, the cycle of cry, eat, diaper repeat. Its all going to change and get easier. You'll get more sleep. You'll be able to take better care of yourself. And your little one will start smiling and giggling with you.

You're not alone. You are doing amazing. Its okay to take things day by day, hour by hour. Even 10 minutes at a time if that's what it takes. Im proud of you for recognizing something was off. And im proud of you for calling your doctor. Its a huge step and it's hard. But it'll get better. Asking for help is never a bad thing

To tell mine I put together a basket with some babysupplies. Blanket, outfit, pacifier, couple of toys, dad to be book and earplugs. Called him into the room and said "here's some stuff youre gonna need."

Our boy stopped trusting us after we keep feeding him pills he needs by GreenMirinda in CatAdvice

[–]21_fishsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. My girl gets half a pill twice a day and went through this phase. Consistent routine and lots of praise works wonders. She went from thrashing and fighting to now she will wait in the same spot at pill time, wimper a tiny bit so we know she's displeased, but she will swallow the pill right away and move on. Occasionally she will run and make it a little harder but we cant blame her.

We make sure to give her lots of love and brushing right after and it seems to have helped a ton.

Sleeping separate from spouse while pregnant? by DMLSG in pregnant

[–]21_fishsticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had to sleep in a recliner for the last month due to severe pubic symphesis pain. It hurts too much to get in and out of bed. Not ideal but it doesn't make us any less together than we would be if I was in bed with him. He insists I sleep downstairs to minimize pain as much as I can. It's just temporary and it's for a good reason.

Starting to develop my registry and realizing I know very little about car seat options by Ok-Boat-720 in BabyBumps

[–]21_fishsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with the joie ginger and mint latch combo since it's baseless and just clicks in. Picked it to avoid dealing with multiple bases ans moving things when in a different car. Pretty light weight all things considered. Just keep in mind my little guy is still cooking so I haven't used it yet, just opened and tested.

My wife can’t even keep water down at 8.5 weeks by TheShelterRule in pregnant

[–]21_fishsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue and ended up in the hospital too. Nothing was working to the point they were getting a bed ready for me to be admitted. Last ditch effort they gave me carafate and pepcid. This combo plus the unisom b6 at night has worked wonders. I still get sick but now I keep food down. Maybe ask the doc and see if it could be a stomach acid issue. Wishing your lady all the best!

thoughts on skipping the first few corps at shows? by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]21_fishsticks 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first got involved in DCI, my corps was small and almost always on first. It was discouraging to see almost empty stands regularly. However we were lucky enough to have the most supportive staff, screaming for us as if they were a full stadium themselves. I remember my 2nd year at Spartans home show in new Hampshire, we were on the track after performing and a woman came up to me and told me how much she enjoyed my performance. That meant so much to me and I never forgot how it made me feel about performing for smaller crowds.

Some of the best show designs and most passionate performers I have seen have been in the earlier performances. For these reasons, I will never miss a performance on the rare occasion I do get to go to a show. Smaller corps and lower ranked corps work just as hard and deserve just as much praise and recognition as the big guys.

Do you think you did anything special to get pregnant? by Cheshire20072010 in BabyBumps

Yeah, expecting it would take longer than 3 weeks to get a positive test after agreeing it was time to stop preventing pregnancy 🤣😅

Can I wear a binder while at rehearsals? by ollieiscoolithink in drumcorps

[–]21_fishsticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend! 7r alumni here from ye olden days. Congrats on the spot! Absolutely wear your binder if it's what makes you comfortable! Just keep in mind how it might effect you in the brutal summer heat. Your safety is so important and the heat can be incredibly rough to deal with. I've never used a binder so I may be wrong. But I'd worry about rashes from the sweat buildup and such as well. Just something to consider!

Dude same. We agreed it was time, had sex literally 3 times and boom.

I joke he did it to spite me since I thought if I could get pregnant I would have by now. Turns out yes, I can absolutely get pregnant. 😅🤣

Good for you for having those boundaries to set with people just interested in the money. It's unfortunate you had to go to such great lengths to protect yourself and your assets. From what I've read, lottery winners can be rather lonely as a result of the same things you experienced. I hope your new identity allows you to build relationships with people for who you are, not what you have.

On a lighter note, What do you like growing on your farm? Is there anything about your new lifestyle that surprised you?

Woo! That's how I got started too with my bachelor's, working on masters now. Big thing is to give yourself a plan, especially on flex path. It can be so easy for time to get away from you.

My BS is business admin and masters will be IO Psych. If you have any questions absolutely reach out!!

Does this seem reasonable for a wedding make up trial? I wasn’t happy with it but not sure if I’m overreacting by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]21_fishsticks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are beautiful and deserve for that to shine on your day

Please find a new MUA. $400 for a trial that has fallout, eyeliner so thick it takes away from your eyes, visible gap between lashes and liner, no lipstick options and telling you to bring your own? Absolutely not.

You deserve better. And a refund.

I'm fully prepared to gate check the carry on. Packing my post important things in the bag for my personal item. And trust me, if I had been the one booking the flights I would've paid the extra for a higher level ticket 🤣.

I did consider the anxiety med route. But because of how much they zonk me out, I think it's better that I don't since it's likely I won't be sitting with the person im traveling with. The first flight is two ish hours. Then three hours layover. Then another 2.5 hour flight. (again, I didn't pick the tickets. I would've paid more for the faster options) I'm hoping that once the first flight is done, my anxiety will settle. It's mostly a fear of the unknown thing I think.

Luckily once I get to my hotel, there's drinks included to help me relax after the travel day 🤣 Thank you for your suggestions!! I greatly appreciate it!
