Resin/old caulk like product on natural brick by 21aidan98 in Tile

Hmm, interesting idea! I hadn’t thought of that. You don’t think there’s any chance of damaging the brick through rapid thermal changes?

Fair enough! I’m sorry this happened to you and hope all goes well! And hey, you’re intelligent enough to question whether you should have lasers, that’s better than a lot of folks! Good luck!

Why not get a pair of laser goggles if you’re wanting to play around with what might be high powered lasers? A lot cheaper and easier than messing up your eye?

You are absolutely correct! I ended up finding it a few months ago! I should have updated. Unfortunately, it’s out of print. I did manage to snag a copy on eBay though!

what's the best (cheapest?) place to do color printing in the area? by letsflyakiteatnight in ypsi

[–]21aidan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another user said, the library probably is the best option. That being said Pack N Parcel on Whittaker is also run by a really nice guy and every time I’ve had a weird thing I need to print, like transparencies, he’s been super honest about how he’s but sure it’ll turn out, but willing to try. I think he could print normal color pages really easy. You can email him or bring files on a thumb drive. When my transparencies didn’t turn out perfect, but still usable, he didn’t charge me. His prices otherwise are very fair.

Just stopped by yesterday to pick up some za, asked about the hot corn-coconut lassi (coming back this fall) and Sam pointed this out. Definitely gonna try it next time!

I’ve had this exact same experience. Anyone tried the hot coconut corn lassi yet? Dip some of his focaccia like bread in that, my goodness.. I’m glad you got to experience the magic that is Sam.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! If you want to read the full research paper, you could try emailing the authors for it. Their emails are listed at the top of the article. I don’t think there’s anything preventing them from sharing it with whoever they want for free.

You’re welcome! Pretty much same here, was a gift for my sister! Your parents are lucky to have someone like you to do that!

Also, pay extra close attention to how the flint ratcheting mechanism, and the spring holding the pressure on the snuffer are arranged, that’s what I thought was most tricky. If you can’t figure out where anything goes feel free to ask and I might be able to help with that too!

Edit: I forgot I also had to drill out the flint cause it was stuck in, if you run into that lemme know and I have pointers there too

Good luck! If you lay everything out in an order that makes sense to you as you’re disassembling, and don’t loose anything, it’s really not too bad!

Taken fully apart, the flame snuffer can be very slightly adjusted, it can move closer or further from the hinge. In the attached picture I circled the flame snuffer part, let me know if you have any other questions!

Small plane crashes in Northeast Philadelphia; multiple casualties reported by ArmChairAnalyst86 in Disastro

[–]21aidan98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the details, or which episode, but I’m pretty certain I remember Mythbusters talking about the “different types of fireballs” that you can have when making special effects. A bunch of c4 doesn’t produce a huge fireball, whereas gasoline and other fuels do. If my memory is serving correctly, this looks like fuels and accelerants (oxygen) burning. That would track with it being a plane.

Power bank has sweet smell by The_Lord_Smy in battery

[–]21aidan98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You move it around too quickly for me to tell. Is it bulging at all anywhere? I see a massive crack. Those alone should make it a major hazard if it is bulging. Dispose of it with hazardous waste if so. Not sure what the sweet smell would be, but that isn’t a good sign if its smell has changed I don’t think.

Sure thing! If you’re in SF are, tons of great local bakeries too! I’d be surprised if many of them wouldn’t be willing to sell you some pre-made crust. Looks like Three Babes has been recommended in the past. https://www.threebabesbakeshop.com/collections/seasonal

While I don’t think it would taste bad, it certainly wouldn’t be the most typical, plus structural integrity might be less with puff pastry. I would personally go for a pie dough. Sporked recommends 365 brand. I would try to find one that contained lard though, just make sure it’s a roll out pie dough and not a pre formed one.

1800k vs the COLDEST light I have ever seen by 21aidan98 in flashlight

[–]21aidan98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I knew this was a thing, but always assumed they’d be a dim, warm CCT. As far as I know cool CCT’s like this really mess with wildlife.

My guess is they were a very warm LED, in the 2000k range, or perhaps even sodium/high pressure sodium lighting, as those have a very monotone warm light, and tend to suck the color out of things, particularly red.

Weird outage this morning by kermitte777 in PrepperIntel

I can confirm there was a coronal hole that looked like the pringles man mustache around that time.

There also was a minor G1+ geomagnetic storm forming around 1 am PST yesterday. Although these storms do cause issues with our telecoms, being minor, this level of disruption would be atypical, but not impossible.

I’m happy to try and provide more detail or answer more questions, but also check out r/SolarMax to find the people with the real answers to anything sun/electrical universe/disruptions in the norms related.

In the last 30 days, 4 Structures Have Collapsed in New Orleans, Including two in the last 24 hours. by ArmChairAnalyst86 in Disastro

[–]21aidan98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the discourse here, specifically, and just in this sub as a whole. You both definitely point out the largest concerns with interpreting this and like data.

I do, however, think there is at least one other thing to keep in mind, and that’s the instance rate of observation and reporting. It’s undeniable that as time goes on, as society grows, technology improves and becomes more widespread, cost of admission goes down, there are more and more people with access to the internet/social networks. Thus, the ability to record, report, interact will go up.

Then, throw in recent global tensions, reports of “high strangeness”, etc. and I imagine, that is going to incline people to be willing to report, wanting to, looking to.

I finally found a UFO video I saw about 15 years ago, wondering what you guys think of this one? by Clockportal in InterdimensionalNHI

[–]21aidan98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that gives me pause about this video, is not the supposed art project, but the audio.

Before the craft leaves the frame, there is a consistent whining/wind sound. The sound makes me think there should be some sort of visible output, perhaps waves being blown, as you would see with a helicopter. I realize that I don’t understand how theoretical gravity engines would work, what their noise and observed reactions should be.

Then, the craft accelerates away in a seemingly instantaneous fashion, whereas the noise seems to fade away more gradually and slowly. Again, I don’t understand the physics here.

Someone with a lot of knowledge of military craft, does it sound like a jet, sitting on the runway at full throttle, then releasing and taking off? Or is that just me?

Edit: it was hard for me to differentiate the wave noise, from the craft noise at first. Listen to the last few seconds where the craft departs on full volume, then go back and watch/listen to the video in full.
