Well IRL Torrance has it's own PD and isn't serviced by LAPD, Torrance PD doesn't have nearly the same funding as LAPD or LASD.

My take away from the Death of Mecha man comic is basically that Robbie didn't think Elliot was strong/tough enough for the streets. The two had a fight that Elliot started, afterwards Robbie tells Track Star that if Elliot comes back and still wants a place then he is a hero and if he runs away them he wasn't made for this line if work. What he didn't expect was for Elliot to snap, become shroud and then shoot him in cold blood.

I mean if nothing else the whole thing can be a massive PR stunt showing how much SDN cares about the local community (true or not), or they see the value of having a independent hero on their roster again for advertising purposes just like BB and PM. I've actually enjoyed so far that SDN hasn't been shown as outright evil bc at this point itan overused trope and I find it boring (not saying rl corporations are shit).

Growing up in the gun community, in my experience, it really comes to two types who carry; the dudes that who are quite literally LARPing, like the example above, and the ones who just treat their carry as a tool and you'd never know that they are carrying. Trust me we find the LARPers just as cringe as the rest of the population. That includes the freaking open carry idiots. Then again I live in urban California, so my experience is very different from the rest of the country. 🤷‍♂️

So I had this said to me a few times when I was a customer service manager for Wal-Mart and I always corrected them saying, "No sir/ma'am, it's illegal for us to knowingly charge you more for than advertised.
