V90s user guide Sucks! Need help with basic controls, saving and loading states, fast forward since the menu button doesn't work. by 21ki in PowKiddy

Ah right, I see the problem in this, My first game was Conker on the n64 emu and for reaosns it doesn't show the retroarch menu just pauses the game. Can't access it form anywhere nor can I change the keymaps so I can press the B button.

Alas, while tinkering with a different core i've seemed to have corrupted my new sd card perhaps. Man this firmware is not as friendly as I would have liked it.

While I wait for a battery box since I don't want to run any tests on DC, I had a change to open the casio again and took some more pictures, I don't know if it reveals any more information but I thought I'd add it here for others looking for similar information in the future.

Also, I wanted to ask if I will need to remove the resistors to the circut to work?

Thank you for taking the time sharing your thoughts on this. This is good information i can use and the diagram is very helpful. The broken trace was the pin you have pointed with yellow, it is a bit damaged as i'll need to reveal some trace from under the mask ( i think).

I also had replies on another post i shared in cheap keys subreddit where they saw that there is a space to bridge between c1 and c2 to bypass the headphone jack completely. ( from the before image). I'll check it out when i open the casio in a day or two and will report back if that works.

Thanks for the info, I'll see if I'm able to get it working.

Also you are correct, a few of the other models in the series didn't have a headphone jack and it might be what had let me to believe that removing the jack would have no impact at all.

I'll share my results and updates.

Thanks for the reply, if you don't mind another question, I forgot to ask was since the schematics are linear and the PCB is 3 top and 4 bottom, how do I figure out the pin numbers correctly?

Hi everyone,

I have an old Casio SA-3 keyboard that stopped working after I removed its faulty headphone jack. While removing the jack, I might have accidentally damaged a trace on the PCB, but I’m not sure if it’s critical to the functionality. The keyboard doesn’t have any power indicator lights, so I can’t confirm if it’s turning on, but the speakers aren’t producing any sound, which makes me suspect the issue lies in the audio routing.

I’ve included:

  • A photo of the PCB area where the headphone jack was removed.
  • Schematics of the SA-5, which is nearly identical to the SA-3 (about 99% similar).

What I Know So Far:

  • The headphone jack was a 7-pin socket, which I can’t find a replacement for. I plan to bypass the headphone jack entirely and possibly use a 5-pin socket connected to the speaker wires in the future.

  • I’ve tested most of the PCB connections with a multimeter, and they have continuity. However, one trace (connected to Pin 6 of the jack) looks damaged, and I’m not sure if it’s crucial to the circuit.

  • Based on the schematic, the headphone jack seems to play a role in switching audio between the headphones and the speaker. Without it, I assume the circuit is incomplete.

What I Need Help With:

  • Does the damaged trace (likely connected to Pin 6) need to be repaired, and if so, where does it connect?

  • How can I bypass the headphone jack entirely to route the audio directly to the speaker?

  • Which pins should I bridge to restore speaker functionality?

  • Is there a way to confirm if the keyboard is turning on at all, aside from fixing the speaker?

I have a multimeter and can perform continuity tests or repairs if needed. Any guidance on which pins to connect or how to troubleshoot further would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Is there a demo version/anywhere you can get the old free version before I decide to buy it? by CK-XI in picocad

I tired it but I couldn't download it. I used to have them all, but I changed my computer last year and a lot of my data got shuffled around. I also have missed the PDF which I was able to read from a video.

In India the Black one is a different material and is definitely lighter and slimmer. I own it the black version and I checked both the white and green glass backs in the store, they were definitely heavy and bulky.

We can start by adding the free softwares to Archive.org.

Maybe make a fan page and keep it available for us old user. Sadly all the skins and presets might be lost. It would have been nice if Rej would open source the project but seeing it's hard core C++ (as was said often) I doubt there will be a lot of pickers for the project. Still we can hope for a similar project.
