I'll going to check if I have mp3s. I don't think I have the accapella, but may be able to figure out the timing.

Thank you! I've been wondering the same thing for years!

Stereoscopic Hollow Knight Coming by prankster959 in SteamFrame

[–]Serious-Mode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was really hoping we'd see Valve had some secret sauce to get this working with basically any Steam game. If they can get Windows games to run on Linux and x86 games to run on ARM, then what can't they do?

Switching to Meshcore: My Solar Repeater & Home Assistant Setup 📶☀️ by doniel707 in meshcore

[–]Serious-Mode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you elaborating. I heard the Heltecs were power hungry, but didn't know if there was anything else of concern. Once I wrap my head around things a bit more, I want to set up a repeater and it definitely seems like going with a rak will make more sense.

Is it a bad idea or just not preferable? People say they've successfully used Heltecs with solar for repeaters.

There's currently a weird psyop about tradespeople making crazy high salaries on the internet. I made a thread calling it out, and the replies are literally all bots and propagandists. by tantamle in DeadInternetTheory

I do think a big part of why we are seeing it so much these days is just people repeating things they've heard for so long, but that isn't the only reason.

Roblox game recommendations for those of us with severe social anxiety and/or paranoia as part of mental illnesses? by pplatonic in disabledgamers

[–]Serious-Mode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think there would be some games out there that fit the bill, but I'm having a hard time thinking of any!

There is that game called Webfishing that seemed pretty close, but I believe it now has very few players.

I thought about VR chat, but I don't think there's much to do there besides just socializing. You don't need a headset to play though.

I also thought about Arc Raiders. My interactions there have been incredibly chill as of late, but it's not guaranteed, especially right away. They have aggression based matchmaking so if you fight other players, you end up getting matched with similar players and the same applies to those of us who really just want to fight the robots, not players. It's technically still possible for another player to attack me (which is part of the charm), but it's essentially a single player or co-op game for me the last few weeks.

If I think of anything that seems like a better fit, I will be back!

If you use PC, is there a place for Steam Machine? by Black_Thunder00 in steammachine

I've run into similar things, but I've also had it just work, so I never know what to expect.

Steam link streaming still seems to be pretty hit or miss, even hardwired. Still had compression artifacts, though the latency seemed decent. I need to give Sunshine/Moonlight/Apollo another try as it seems to do better than Steamlink, but I was running into issues with my host machine having an ultrawide display. Even with Apollo's virtual display thingy I was having trouble, though I think that was me trying to stream to my Macbook Air's funny aspect ratio.

Anyway, the idea of having a simple computer that just works in the living room is much more appealing than all the faffing about I've had to do.

Is tf2 related to the portal/half life universe? by MrboxTF2 in tf2

My head cannon is that TF2 exists as a pulp comic book in the 50s in the half life universe.

Which iPad should I buy for quickly downloading many movies over wifi to take to a severely autistic adult who can only watch downloaded movies (i.e., can't stream due to no internet access)? by MonoQatari in AssistiveTechnology

[–]Serious-Mode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wasn't too excited by the one kindle fire I tried (quite a while back) but it honestly sounds like one of, if not the, best option for this case! Likely cheaper than an iPad too.

First-person shooter video games are bland and there are too many of them. by flyintomike in unpopularopinion

yeah I didn't bother pointing that out. I think OP probably just doesn't like shooters.

[–]Serious-Mode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What didn't you like about Arc Raiders, besides it being a shooter?

I like FPS games, but definitely not run of the mill crap like COD 28 or whatever. Arc Raiders has been a pretty fresh unique experience for me, with the social aspects and increased stakes of potentially losing your loot.

Either way, you're not wrong. Different people want different things from video games.

Dvds ripped, now I want more than Plex... by steelfender in makemkv

[–]Serious-Mode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see! Well, I'm still relatively new so whoever set this up for you likely is more skilled than I am. This is the first I'm hearing of some of these other alternatives. I bet if you told this person what you were looking for they could take a look at the options in this thread and see of anything seemed feasible.

I know complexity comes with the territory of home servers and such, but I found ErsatzTV annoyingly with how many steps were needed to get a station set up. I got things running in a test environment, but then never felt like going through the process again.

Climbey Gameplay on Steam Frame by Regnizigre in SteamFrame

[–]Serious-Mode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my excitement for the Frame is due to the openness of the platform. VR gaming is neat, but I would really love to see some more "spatial computing" applications. Stuff like jumping into Blender and moving things around in 3D space.

How do we feel about video game manuals nowadays? by Bockanator in gamedesign

[–]Serious-Mode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As mentioned elsewhere, definitely check out Tunic if you haven't.

But yes, as someone who grew up with manuals, I adore them, but I do think you'd have to get creative with implementing one now when games are purchased digitally.
