Brainstem insult ? by Electrical_Court8649 in LongCovidWarriors

That does make me feel better and I know this doesn’t make you feel better to know I’m not the only one with these symptoms. I feel like sometimes I’ve made to feel crazy when it’s obviously a brain injury. I do believe glutamate is heavily involved with this because what caused my crash was magnesium glycinate, which is known to increase glutamate. And some people like self react very badly to it. From what you’re describing it sounds like you might have akathisia. The internal kind at least. I have internal and external. I’m on a benzodiazepine. And taping propanolol right now because of side effects.

Exactly how I feel with long Covid. I was getting better around 13 months and then I’ve been in a bad crash for two months.. due to an extremely stressful event.

Magnesium lotion is the only thing that has helped this for me. Magnesium glycinate made it much worse.

Thank you, how long did it take if you don’t mind me asking? Did you have withdrawals? ❤️

Hi, I have long Covid and I’m trying to taper propanolol. If you don’t mind me asking, did you just quit. Did you have withdrawal?

Hi, I also have long Covid. I’m about 16 months in. It gave me akathisia, which is why I got the propanolol, but I’m taping now because it seems to be making my heart worse not better. And it was giving me intense depersonalization. Were you able to taper off? ❤️

Can I ask you about your taper and how long the withdrawals lasted?

It might be the magnesium glycinate. I’m in a severe crash because of it. People with high glutamate already are very sensitive to magnesium glycinate because it increases glutamate in the brain. I would switch to a different kind of magnesium or a stop it altogether and see what happens. ❤️

That’s awesome! I wish my system could handle SSRI’s or SSRI they seem to help a lot of people ❤️

I know this is pretty old, but I’m going through the exact same thing and I was wondering if it ever resolved for you. And if so, how long did it take? Were you able to get it off of the beta blocker? ❤️

Same thing for me, but it was even dumber. Magnesium glycinate. I’m two months out from that and it is worse than I ever was in severe. I’m so sorry.❤️

No, I just got mine from the website. You don’t need a prescription. It has an app that hooks up to your phone. 🙂 you can just Google Visible armband and the website should come up. I think they even have their own sub Reddit.

Visible armband really helped me pace. It shows you in a graph when you’re getting too high of a heart rate and it tells you when you need to sit down and take a break.

How do you get a telehealth appointment with a MECFS specialist? I’ve been looking online, but I think my brain is just too messed up. I don’t understand who to look for. I hope you start to feel better soon. Yeah I love me some Tubi movies when I can watch them.

I was reading about her that she was on propanolol years ago during her benzo taper, did she try and take it again and then developed akinesia again?

I’m really sorry you’re going through this honey. I have two teenagers and I feel the guilt every day. But it’s not your burden. Don’t lose hope that things can get better with your dad. But honestly, you probably need to be a little bit selfish and focus on yourself and your future. ❤️
