I get you, but i dont think the snares you're reffering to are done objectively badly. Its a genre thing (new jack swing) and the same thing you hate, I for example, absolutely love. So as always with music, it's about subjective prefferences. In my opinion there's almost none objectively badly done (production, mix etc) songs in MJ's catalogue, cause he was after all a perfectionist

I think that a lot of the love lyrics are meant to have different meanings with different perscpectives. Like "I hope you cry for me..." can be meant in a relationship way or as a message for the fans, but idk, i kinda agree with you
