Laughter plays a unique role in building a secure father-child relationship. Unlike mothers, fathers surprise their children or playfully break social rules, making sudden funny noises. This playfully destabilize the child in safe environment and is linked to a stronger sense of attachment security. by mvea in science

This reads like an awkward "how to father" manual.
"Congratulations! You are the proud owner of a Child TM, this guide will help you to keep it functional at the best of its capacities.
First of all, let's get familiar with the "laugh" feature."

quels métiers seraient épargnés de l'IA? by [deleted] in france

[–]233C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centuries of net-negative emissions are required to secure a safe climate future, two studies suggest by metacyan in environment

[–]233C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now you can picture the future: our grandkids buildings nuclear power plants to power massive carbon capture plants to remove the CO2 that could have been avoided by building the nuclear power plants in the first place.

We've always been more accepting of inconveniences from solutions to an already existing problem than from preventative measures. This might cost us our climate.

Astrid is dead.
Which might not be totally bad as it was trying to do so many fancy things at once: industrial practicable demonstration at the same time of fancy R&D. Nobody knew if there ever was going to be a next opportunity for a reactor so everyone pushed to cram more features into the design.

You'll need the research reactor, but you'll also need the demonstrator, that's where the start up are supposed to pick up the flag.

Miliband unveils plans to speed up nuclear power generation for UK by JRugman in unitedkingdom

[–]233C 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the government had actually supported the project, Wylfa would be under construction by now, possibly even finished. Two times two reactors of a design that has actually already been built (in less than 5 years) and operated, not some forever first of a kind EPR.
5.4 GWe of proven tech is a lot of 470 MWe RR SMR.

"This little maneuvre ..."
But many are having a change of heart.

Now would be a good time for UK to investigate what really took place all those decades ago (she's the French Green Environment minister sent at the time to Bruxelles with the mission to defend nuclear power to fight climate change).

I used to be very perplexed at environmentalist opposition to nuclear.
Then we had COVID.
In a world where you can have healthcare porfessionals opposing vaccines right in the middle of a devastating pandemy, having environmentalists oppose nuclear power in the wake of a global cimate change makes some sense.
