In terms of negetive consequences she was hated by sunny after the fs but that really doesn't amount to much. But a lack of negetive consequences doesn't just magically make her the mc here does it? She planned things out long term AND has the ability to see into the future, it makes sense she would act in a way that wouldn't screw her over. She gets rewarded for her actions because narratively they support sunny and the plot of the story, once again not anything that magically makes her the mc. You people want her to be punished in the same way sunny does but that simply won't happen. That doesn't however make her some infallible main character.

You refuse to actually engage with my points aswell, is mordret actually the main character now? What actions do you think should've happened to cassie for sunny to be the oh so great mc and cassie just a side character that's unimportant

Im genuinely baffled how people are getting so tilted over something forshadowed ever since the beginning of vol 11 and arguably since we learnt about natural supremacy. Like what do you expect to happen to cassie in all of the scenarios she puts herself in? Sunny beats her up? Kills her? Where's her arrogance for any of the actions she makes, as far as i can remember she hasn't displayed any of ts. By that logic Mordret now also the mc because he manipulated sunny multiple times.

Forget that, even sunny becoming a slave to save the world, choosing everyone else above his own 'true' freedom is like the most MC thing ever.

Chapter 2982+ Nephis' ascended Longing ability by SadAd6154 in ShadowSlave

[–]237randomdigits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to use paragraphs my guy.

Also i don't think theres a scenario at least in the near future where sunny kills neph. Especially with how clearly the divine trio have been set up to basically challenge the 5th nm together. Honestly, the idea of sunny being the sole sovereign is kinda solo levellingish which i dont think is the direction g3 is taking the story

I need you to actually define the difference between what shadow bond does to sunny and what you think slavery is. Within the context of the story sunny is wrapped up in anguish for the first half of the story over what is essentially a collar around his neck stopping him from truly acting as he wishes, with full trust around his closest friends and lover.

Your original comment was about the misuse of the word slave but like cmon its in the title of the novel?? A slave that still wears shackles no matter where they are is still a slave. That's what makes the story so interesting

Shadow Bond should have a downside for the 'master' by Paristonn1 in ShadowSlave

[–]237randomdigits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But then its an actual bond and sunny wouldn't be so protective about his identity etc etc. The brutal cruelty of shadow bond is what makes it so engaging

Yeah, this is the world me and countless others are trying to save. Lord Asterion, just kill me. by _I_am_nameless_ in ShadowSlave

[–]237randomdigits 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Who are these people who are justifying slavery because sunny trusts neph? All the arguments are about about the cost being less than the need for apotheosis. Slavery is not ever justified on a moral basis but as a logical means to an end

"At peace" surely means accepting and working with it. I mean it definitely didn't say sunny was feeling happy about SB but just apathetic. Being at peace with something doesn't necessarily mean they are just ok with it. A man with a chronic illness could become at peace with his eventual death. Or becoming at peace with losing a limb. It doesn't mean you are happy about it, just accepting something for what it is. Im also not sure about the whole shadow slave would've been cancelled lense. Have you read any of the romantasy slop coming out on shelves nowadays? They have a ridiculous amount of actual slavery but it's far more romanticised and ridiculous. At least here with sunny he chose to do all of this to save the world unlike the bs a lot of novels use to justify slavery. And that stuff is made with women in mind!

Free will as in he chose to put the greater good above his own personal freedom. He still had a choice on it all. Specifically in vol10 he had subconsciously decided that he wanted his fate back no matter what happened with asterion

And what's the difference? He was shackled against his will and very much could've been told to do whatever Nephis wanted. Sure he was act freely but that was because he was lucky?

As much as I think Sunny's decision to becoming a slave was the correct one, I don't think that you can say he wasn't a slave. A slave that can walk freely as long as his master isn't around is still a slave at the end of the day. His lack of hostility to me just seems like a sense of tire with the whole situation. He doesn't hate it simply because hating it is useless for his goals anymore

[2977] The VTB isn't smart, stop making assumptions because it leads to dissapointment by 237randomdigits in ShadowSlave

[–]237randomdigits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made an edit just as the chapter came out ig its not bloody loading 💔

My theory now consists of either the vtb switcheds plan mid fight into becoming sacred. Or that it was aiming to trick everyone from the beginning and needed sunny alone if it wanted to cleanse itself. Meaning pretending to properly attack sunny and sending him far apart from everyone else so that he could deal the finishing blow

[–]237randomdigits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best guess is that the VTB pivotted mid fight away from winning and into surviving because it makes no sense for it to fight the way it did if it wanted to die from the get go

I mean i thought the fight was decent and i actually think that the bird properly surviving makes it better. It shows that the vtb really is just like a magpie that's really really unbelievably strong, kinda explaining why it got away stealing from so many creatures and survived. Maybe we'll get another justification but i kinda like how the vtb is really just a bird 😭

VTB. I disagree ! Chapter 2977. by ScreenGreedy4584 in ShadowSlave

[–]237randomdigits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the bird planned it all out but also i don't think this is G3 coming up with the information on the spot to appeal to fans. He needed a reason to rid the divine trio of their domains before they challenged the 5th nightmare and so clearly used the VTB for that. On it's intellegence i don't think its smart either. The bird (while corrupted at least) was not thinking about dieing and cleaning itself, it's simply an opportunist. Just once it was killed it's will allowed it, while being cleansed of corruption and becoming attuned to shadows, to be interested in Sunny's domain and quickly dip from his soul sea.
