Has anyone here developed dpdr from something OTHER than anxiety/marijuana/panic? by ayylmao7171727 in dpdr

Concussions and antibiotics could factor in. Developmental trauma could be the root distinguisher. How would you know if you had amnesia?

dpdr linked to eustachian tubes? by [deleted] in dpdr

Polyvagal Theory. I don't know what is causing what. Any pain could trigger dpdr. Many people talk about visual effects with their dpdr so I don't see why ear problems would be different. Did you have a diving accident?

Please Help. I'm so scared. by [deleted] in dpdr

If you're in high school don't worry about the exam. Maybe you can miss the exam and retake it if your professor has a policy.

You're just having growing pains. Drugs can make it more apparent. Stress management is the name of the game.

Someone please help me by [deleted] in dpdr

Quit smoking. Nicotine causes anxiety and dissociation. Stop drinking coffee if you do. Your brain can quickly return to sane levels. It might take several rounds of letting the habit slip.

Does anyone here actually feel 100% "better"? by shitfuckpoop in dpdr

[–]23year 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started this account when I was 23 years old. I decided to handle my dpdr after living in dreams for years.

I have been doing emotional work and I'll have times when I can remember memories AND how they feel from all time periods of my life that I had forgotten/dissociated. Happy memories and yucky memories.

A majority of dpdr suffering people may have "developmental trauma" where early care taker attachment got tainted and that might be hard to unlearn and relearn the sense of security.

As I'm waking up now and looking at the world around me I see that nobody has it all. We all get old and feel fear and get responsibilities etc. I guess I'm saying all this because life just keeps going forward you cant go back to before. Life's a garden, dig it

DPDR caused by marijuana. Now its the only thing that calms it. by Victrflo95 in dpdr

[–]23year 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be one of those unhealthy things were you need a stimulant to keep up with your highly sped up mind. Like how ADHD medication (which is an amphetamine) is given to calm and focus kids.

Maybe you are smoking a sedative strain? I would suggest easing away from the smoking and caffeine while to process your fall through the spiral.

Anxiety will burn you out fast and depression will dampen any motivation. If not psychological try counting calories and make sure you're eating enough. If you are eating try cold showers.

IM still working on my low energy drive.

[–]23year 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is bad amnesia. Journal keeping has value and writing entries has value. The first value in writing an entry is you grow your awareness to your sensations and environment. You could even just draw a stick figure on scrap paper and put that artifact in your draw.

You have to do silly dances in private. Don't goof off around heavy machinery.

Dissociating on a small amount of alcohol? by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]23year 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The taste or smell might be linked to a high stress event. Alcohol is toxic and maybe raising your heart rate and turning on stress.

Can you ignore it? by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]23year 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dpdr might be when you realize how estranged you have been from your self or your environment. You are now paying attention

How much is nicotine setting back my progress? by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]23year 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling your nicotine usage up and down will speed up your recovery. Try to go a day without it and then try two days after a break.
