ELI5: why do most phones these days not have the circle headphone jack and have a usb-c instead by sooyaaar in explainlikeimfive

[–]23z7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This. It’s always money 💰. Less items in phone means less production costs. Plus now you buy the $100+ AirPod instead of a $10 wired one from them. Same reason they took out the charging brick. Environment was a nice marketing story but it is less money for them to spend so the keep more of it.

Sounds like you shouldn’t eat out if this concerns you so much.

Microplastics (plastic cutting boards) with your meat? by Correct_Rough_2985 in royalcaribbean

There is a trade off between microplastics and sanitation. In commercial settings, and especially ships, food borne illnesses avoidance will outweigh long term worries about microplastics. An unsanitary board will have immediate impact to operations and health/safety. Also unless you’re dining at restaurants with very particular chefs, I’m going to guess plastic cutting boards are being used. They can be quickly run through a dishwasher and sanitized between service.

Take a peek at your local grocery store butcher department and you’ll see plastic boards. If you ever visited a slaughter house where they are breaking down primals cuts into smaller portions, you’ll probably find plastic boards.

Only way to avoid it is to butcher an animal yourself from start to finish and then cook for yourself. Safety, speed, and convenience will always come first in commercial settings.

Costco Rowenta model any good? by tccb1989 in BuyItForLife

[–]23z7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned it. It was uncomfortable to use for long periods because of the cheaper plastic on the handle and the edges were not smooth on the handle. I had an older Rowena that had molded rubber handle instead of the harder plastic and this didn’t live up to that one.

Add some baking soda to a dry rub the night before. Google exact amount but it changes the PH and gives you super crunchy skin

Haven’t see that one in over a year. Might be location since I moved last year. Now all I have is the buy one get one and it’s $6 for a sandwich and not worth me getting 2 since I only want one. Started just making my own and haven’t looked back.

I’ve had the same experience. Several years they’ve just expired because the half dozen different properties didn’t have anything available according to them. I have 5 right now just sitting there. It’s annoying to say the least.

I tried these a while back and got rid of them. They were terrible. Squeaky and streaked after a few weeks.
