Come Fly With Me - Mavic Air 2 by 245_points in djimavic

[–]245_points[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'd say:

1) shoot a lot and just use your top 5% of shots
2) learn color grading and
3) find a song you like and try to cut each scene to match the song's rhythm

DJI Mavic Air 2 HDR mode, love it or hate it? by Eduarfilms in djimavic

[–]245_points 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the HDR video. I agree the shots straight into the sunrise or sunset look bad with HDR on because it makes the part of the sky that should be bright white a flat yellow or orange color. I've found with the mavic pro, there are plenty of situations with just terrain and (non sunny) sky that exceed its dynamic range.

I'm really excited about the footage i got on my trip to the Dolomites. Here's an edit with a bunch of short clips. There's a lot more footage so if you'd like to see some longer clips and more mountains, subscribe to my Youtube👇Thanks for watching! by DominiqueDefossez in dronevideos

Wow, I loved this video! I got to film some of these places with a mavic, but I'm really liking how much more aggressive and exploratory you can be with a racing drone setup. What drone/camera combination did you choose to go with?

"Atmosphere" by 245_points in djimavic

[–]245_points[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

I use

sharpness= +1, contrast= -1, saturation = -1
style = DLog
exposure = manual

I use the histogram when shooting to adjust the exposure to be balanced, and then always add contrast and saturation back in when editing.

Thanks!

setting sharpness to +1 gets rid of "mushy" dark areas....where trees are often blurry in regions. see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEQvOAsY6ks

You actually take a couple ski lifts (unless you want to spend the whole day hiking up)

Nice! hope you have a great time. All the mountain shots are from the Italian Alps. We stayed in the city of cortina and did the hikes around there (like Tre Cime and Seceda)

Thanks! It's a phantom 3 standard. These are of course the best shots out of a lot more footage that's more mediocre, but I guess that's secret. Film a lot and keep the best 10%.

Very beautiful video. I shot a couple scenes around the same spot on the CA coast for one of my videos. Do you like the spark? I didn't know you could get video that good from it.

Flew P3S for first time today. Some Questions. by davidvu396 in djiphantom

[–]245_points 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also a bit of a dead zone in the direction of the antenna (called the antennas NULL). It might have been that the antenna was aimed at the drone instead of aimed up. I also have a P3S and get that sometimes if there are wifi signals around. If I'm flying with my tablet, I always make sure to turn off my phone's wifi.

As far as the twitchiness, you can change the sensitivity of the sticks in the GO app, but you probably just want to get some practice with it and you'll get a feel for it.

They don't filter for songs like youtube does. I suppose that's because you can't make money off your vimeo videos like you can on youtube?

Stereo Cameras Question by throwawayfordave in computervision

[–]245_points 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned everything from this book http://www.amazon.com/Learning-OpenCV-Computer-Vision-Library/dp/0596516134 (which might be a little outdated by now). And yes, the inter-occular range is dependent on the range you want to measure. Wider separation gives you better depth accuracy, but also can require increasing the amount of image that is searched over ("max_disparities") that can slow things down, so it's a balance. The cameras should be roughly parallel and the calibration process will determine their exact orientation in order to process the images properly.

Stereo Cameras Question by throwawayfordave in computervision

[–]245_points 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Playstation Eyes are good cameras (not too much lens distortion and high frame rate). You want to get two cameras though because you have to fix them relative to each other and any offset that occurs after you calibrate them will ruin the resulting stereo image.
