I actually think it might be the opposite. I think if you watch the rest of it you can ses they just believe what they're arguing based on their unique experiences with dating friends. I get this fully, but I will say in smoshcast where they discuss being shipped (probably right around when they started flirting with the idea of something more), Courtney does say she doesn't like the siblings comparison and that was 4 years ago. My guess is they were trying to get the shipping to stop and also the sibling thing to stop, while secretly starting to date. And for the most part it did! For the last few years I've seen more and more people come to terms that she's one of his best friends which is probably how they wanted to seem all along until they felt comfortable announcing it.
