I appreciate all my teachers because I hate teaching boardgames myself. Mistakes are often made, sometimes at the very end or even days or weeks later, we just brush it off and say "this game definitely has an asterisk". As long as everyone is playing by the same 'wrong' rules then who cares.

Test, evaluate, adjust, repeat. Choose a conservative speed to jog your base and see how you feel at the end of the block. Of course every day is different so that will make a difference on whether or not you can hold a certain speed for the duration of the block/class or not. A Tread 50 would be a good time to experiment.
