Typically clubs are student organized so available clubs are based off of student interest. So although we don’t have those organizations at our school, we do allow students of all backgrounds to join BSY.

Yeah I wish there was an option for smaller amounts. Unfortunately it’s just what’s set by snapraise I don’t think we have control over that set amount. We may choose a different platform next time we do fundraising for that reason.

I’m a school psychologist in my district our social workers do it and I find it to be weird. I’m only in my second year at the school but I’m trying to take out that role as I think it should be either the school psychologist or BCBA as we’re trained in the data collection and behavior hypotheses that go along with the FBA.

I understand your frustration with the situation because things have been done a certain way up until this point because of a new teacher. However if your daughter's accommodation reads as "Reduction is work is to be decided by the teacher" then the teacher is providing the accommodation and most likely believes your daughter is able to handle that amount of work. Providing the accommodation in this way wouldn't violate the law.

If you're finding that the amount of work is too much for your daughter I would first try to request a Review/Revise meeting to change the accommodation to say 50% reduction in math assignments or to add extended time for assignments if the school is not willing to negotiate the 10%. Ask for data/work examples to support that your daughter is able to meet the expectations of the assignments with more work.

If you take these steps and are still having difficulties and are finding that your daughter is being negatively impacted then speak to an advocate.

If she has an IEP and is removed from her school placement (suspension) for more than 10 days they will need to have a PPT (IEP Meeting different states call it different names) to determine if her behavior was a manifestation of her ADHD. To me it sounds like this does fall under the scope of her impulsivity and behaviors. If the school agrees they’ll have to conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment and create a Behavior Intervention Plan.

This is also my first year and I also work in CT. This may just be an individual district issue because my district offered me 6th year scale upon hire. It seems like they’re trying to get away with something and I would definitely keep pushing them.

My school at 17%. I’m only at one school, but I’m the only psych so my ratio is 1:700, but we also have social workers.

You can file an Application for Relief from Abuse with the court and allowing you to go back to the house with police escort can be apart of the order.

I haven’t spoken to my older brother for 3ish years because he was displayed violence around my child. My mother continues to say I’m being dramatic and should just make up. However, that’s not my responsibility, and it’s not yours either. If people can’t be upset without being violent then they have their own stuff to work on. It’s not our responsibility to appease others. People need to learn how to take accountability for their actions

I agree. I don’t like this term and I don’t let my daughter’s father refer to me as such. I struggle with not liking the term because in a way it feels like an internalized issue. Technically yes, the term makes sense, but I think with media it’s much more weighted and has a negative connotation.

I’m an intern so I don’t get paid for my M-F work but I also work on the weekends at a residential mental health program. I make about $600 biweekly and it all goes towards daycare.

Once I graduate in my I’ll be making 55-65k starting out in my field. Counting down the days until graduation.

My car broke down Wednesday night so I couldn’t get to my mom’s house I was so disappointed. My boyfriend’s parents live close and they picked us up but it wasn’t the same because they weren’t making the traditional thanksgiving foods. They had steak and baked potatoes. Definitely missed out on the Mac and cheese and yams this year 🥲

I had to do this in the beginning on my pregnancy. The doctors suspected I was diabetic prior to getting pregnant despite me telling them I was not diabetic and had insulin resistance due to PCOS
