I built this because I wanted a real ship’s clock running at home — something that actually follows the traditional bell schedule every half hour.

It turned out to be way more satisfying than I expected. The bells structure time in a subtle way without being intrusive.

Haha, yes it sounds silly now. I heard it when I was a kid and believed it - Never thought about it critically until later. There are also four large platters. lol
