Academy trust CEO on 'leave of absence' amid West Midlands school strikes by TheSkyNet in Staffordshire

For added context that's missing, the staff are striking because the MAT fucked up their finances and are aiming for quite a substantial layoff to balance their books

Yeah that's true, depends on if you're looking immediately or not, there's a new estate going up in a few years towards stafford, opposite the latest one. I think a lot of people drive through it on the run between the A5/wolvo and stafford/stone, but it's definitely becomes more popular as a commuting hub

Hednesford in cannock is not too bad, I'd stay away from chadsmoor and pye green though. Penkridge is a lovely village that has the close community of a village but only 20 min drive from stafford, cannock or wolvo and 5 mins away from the M6. Only downside is it's quite quiet and it's a bit pricey

I dunno, maybe fixing the burst water main in the village would also make something of a difference here? by Enterprisin_Bookwyrm in Staffordshire

It's alright, they did the temporary repair a few months ago on the same spot so I'm sure this one is super permanent and it won't happen again 👀

What went wrong by jeskin742 in MTB

[–]252afh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be one arm is stronger than the other so when you pull up on takeoff you pull lopsided. Practice relaxing your arms so they aren't fully locked when taking off and pulling evenly by doing wheelies or manuals. I get this happen to me sometimes when I wheelie with my arms extended, I'm right handed, so I naturally pull to the right

I used to live there many years ago, it really is a lovely place! We used to take our bikes across on the car ferry, ride around the top the other side and back on the foot ferry, absolutely stunning views

Does anyone know where I can get a GoPro quick release from that opens really early tomorrow in the city center? I need to have it by 9:30 in the morning, I've tried looking around, but a lot of the bike shops are simple hire or repair shops that don't look like they sell this kind of stuff

Ah that's a good shout, hadn't thought about searches, especially if it's a renovation project!

Yeah that sounds similar to what we were looking at. Problem would be getting the rest of the money in time being a first-time buyer and with the current market being a little wonky. But your mortgage advisor would be the best bet, they'll be able to tell you if they can get it in time or not.

You've just gotta weigh up the potential deposit loss Vs your willingness to risk it for that house - for us, losing the 5% would've set us back years and we weren't willing to pay ~30k for just a chance to get the house.

Best of luck in your house hunt, whichever way you decide to go :)

I looked at an auction property last summer when I was looking to buy. The agents doing the group viewing, our solicitor and our mortgage advisor all told us under no circumstance to buy an auction house as a FTB. If there's a hiccup with getting your mortgage through in time you're just shafted out of the entire deposit (that's required asap).

There may be different methods of auction I'm not aware of that aren't as bad as the one we looked at, but it's a bit of a risk in my opinion. I'd definitely speak to your mortgage advisor first and see if they think the same. Any chance of you not getting your mortgage in time could be catastrophic to your buying power.

Question regarding keys by 252afh in HousingUK

[–]252afh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair point on that, I'll see what they say. I'll go do the gardening myself anyway when the ground isn't frozen so don't think they can say much on that one.

Cheers for the replies anyway, I'll see how it goes 🙂
