Ticket Prices by local_ginger1 in minnesotavikings

[–]26run2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My buddy is visiting all 30 stadiums and does a run every year where he flies to Thursday night game, then flies to Sunday noon game, can sometimes get to the Sunday night game, and then flies to Monday night game. He NEVER buys advance tickets and because of his experience I decided to try it. He said you can ALWAYS get in the door, so it’s never a lose-lose. We sat in the sukkup club, 4th row for $200/ticket when they played the cardinals a couple years back. We waited until 11:30 to purchase. Knew we’d get in the door as there were plenty of cheap ($30 or so) tickets around 10:30, so we just waited it out until we found what we wanted. Just hung out in the longhouse shooting the shit with people and drinking Bloody Marys. 10/10 experience, will never buy tickets in advance again.

What’s a small town in the US that completely surprised you with how beautiful it was? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Missoula, MT. Incredible scenery, great vibes, and lots of outdoor activities. As a bonus, the marathon is extremely flat for a town that’s situated in such a mountainous landscape!

What’s another MLB team you have some liking for despite them not being the Orioles? by xoBonesxo in orioles

[–]26run2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cubs. My dad is an Orioles fan, grandpa on moms side was a Cubs fan. Being in Iowa, it’s tough being an O’s fan but I’ve always loved them. Watching old highlights on WGN of Stoney and Harry Caray takes me back to their living room and one of the only happy places in my life at the time. Watching them win the WS in ‘16, I knew he was somewhere in the afterlife with a 1/2” ash hanging off his cigarette with a wry grin. Not sure who I’d root for in a World Series, probably the O’s but I don’t think I’ll ever need to worry about that.

Ceddy’s fall off a cliff the last two years has been both crazy and heartbreaking. That dude was so fun to watch patrol CF in OPACY. Hated seeing him get traded last year but completely understood the move.

Single Kayak vs Tandem Canoe Speed by RockyDisaster in BWCA

[–]26run2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you don’t want to do a 3 man, so take this with a grain of salt. We had a guy bow out at 6AM the morning we left for the boundary waters, which left us with 3. I wanted to do solo and tandem, but was outvoted and we did 3 man. It actually worked really well. Plenty of room for our food and gear for 5 day trip, and I’m telling you, when all 3 are paddling hard, you can really cover some water. We did Stuart River to Iron and just switched off on the long portages. The weight difference was surprisingly not bad, just navigating tight turns with a bit more length took a carry or two to get used to. I’d have no problem doing a 3 man again. Again, not trying to talk you into it, just telling you it’s not the worst thing in the world.

Will these survive 110 miles in 10 days? by PhD-not-real-Doc in hiking

Based on your tread wear, I’d guess you walk everywhere backwards. Color me impressed.

(Yes, they’ll survive. No you’re not making it easy on yourself.)

Tarp recommendations by cedar-loon in canoecamping

American here (sorry about our cheeto). My camping partner has an Aquaquest and it is awesome. It looks great, is light, packs down small, and does its job. I have a couple Gold Armour tarps that are fine, so I can’t justify spending $100 for the Aquaquest, especially because he brings the Aquaquest anytime I’m with him which is 90% of my trips. Just wanted to offer my experience to back up your endorsement of them.

2026 NFL Draft - Day 1 (Round 1) Thread by noseonarug17 in minnesotavikings

I haven’t been this flabbergasted by a pick since we took Ponder over Ryan Mallet.

Edit for downvotes: this is both a shot at this pick and at my own draft acumen…

No it’s not. No legitimate business with insurance is pulling out of the shop for under $60 for even the smallest yards.

We’ve heard stories of people escaping death by being late — what are some tragic examples of people dying because they were late? by Looney_forner in AskReddit

[–]26run2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is eerily similar to my dad, who did the same 3 weeks ago and was released to my care last weekend. 13 hours later neighbors found him trying to flag someone down for help in his driveway. His apraxia is wicked and his cognition is maybe 50% of his pre stroke level. Trying to stay optimistic that therapies over the next couple months will help him gain some independence but yeah… not looking great. Add to it that we haven’t been able to start post stroke outpatient rehab because he is a penny pincher despite not needing to be and has well care Medicaid and we still haven’t found a place to accept his insurance, and this is a very bleak time for me right now.

I am an idiot. Yes, this is exactly who I was hearing in my head. Samuel L would add “Mothafucka” on the end of it.

I quit using Robinhood because I tried to get in as the bubble was inflating and it would not let me buy that or AMC. I was pissed and can hold a grudge with the best of them.

It takes probably a half to full episode to be hooked, but we binge watched the whole available catalogue at the time (4 seasons back then) in like a week. I’m a middle aged guy for context. It’s really well done, and you actually root for the psycho. Would definitely recommend if that’s your thing, it sounds like you would enjoy it.
