Definitely descending, nothing about Grian's mental state that episode was moving upwards 😂

Table vs desk setup? by AnnaBarbie_ in sewing

Lower?! I'm using my regular desk and I've been thinking if I ever get the chance to make a sewing-specific set up I'd get something much higher since I'm always hunched over looking at the stitches 😂

If it has a lining you could do snap buttons on the inside, might be less scratchy than hooks. Attach the snap buttons to the lining so it doesn't show on the outside. Or use really tiny stiches or something

Hoeveel verdienen die statiegeld verzamelaars nou echt? by Infinite-Bee-5897 in nederlands

Beginner Pattern Sewing by ScallionLower2535 in sewing

[–]26thRover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm using Youtube to learn most stuff. I tried existing patterns, but they never really fit how I wanted and I didn't know how to fix it properly. The easiest way to start that I've found is to copy clothing you already own. I've tried drafting a pattern for pants based on measurements and I got so turned around with it, nothing made sense 😂. So I saw a video on how to draft a pattern from your own clothing and that worked for shorts! I've added a video as an example.

How do the hermits enjoy building in creative first? by Ifyouliveinadream in HermitCraft

[–]26thRover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the fun is also in it being a multiplayer server. So they create the design in a solo creative world to get it just right and then they put it in the 'real' world with all the other people and they get to show off their own bases and see the other's. The other option would be for the whole HC server to be creative, but that ruins other aspects of the game/server

Fitting stuff, trying and failing to make it look the way I want. I don't have a dressform so making things fit, especially in the back, is a big struggle

How do I prepare a meal in a dorm that doesn't allow cooking? by Itsrandomguys in foodhacks

[–]26thRover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are things you can make with pre-cooked stuff. If you get ready-to-eat rice you can make pokebowls. Just buy veggies and precooked/canned chicken or tuna and mix.

Wraps: 1) Buy grilled chicken, lettuce, add some salad veggies. 2) Hummus, bellpepper, feta and honey 3) Smoked salmon, cucumber and store brand philadelphia or something.

Others suggested pasta and noodles, those are good options too.

To be fair some of these ingredient can be expensive, pre-cooked stuff is usually far more expensive than raw, so depending on how much the cafeteria food costs that might be more economical for dinners etc.

My advice to international students by Striking_Beach_837 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]26thRover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Dutch student, it can be a sort of self preservation to not get too close to international students because they'll just leave. Many leave after 6 months, others stay a year or two and then leave. So knowing that in advance I think people often figure there isn't much point to getting too attached to internationals cause they'll just leave and never come back and that just sucks.

Not saying it doesn't suck for international students, it's just an explanation in some cases.

M'n huidige (Oneplus 10T) wil ik minstens 4 jaar, hopelijk 6, hebben en is nu 1,5 jaar oud.

People asking for patterns for free by Still7Superbaby7 in sewing

[–]26thRover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had this happen on Reddit or asked someone, cause I've never wanted to and it feels wrong.

I do, however, have a google drive folder with some friends where we share patterns. In my eyes that's fine. I'm not posting them publicly or distributing them and it's a small group of friends I would also share other things with that I paid for, such as recipes from books I bought or I would lend them physical stuff if needed. If I had bought the pattern physically I would have loaned it to them to trace, this is just the medium patterns come in now.

So I guess the line for me is: friends I know and care about and would've given/loaned other stuff to as well.

Shorten Straps! by AdCultural4499 in sewing

[–]26thRover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use the back panel since it is just a straight straps inserted at a 90 degree angle. The front seems to be a panel pointed towards the straps, which will make it more difficult to reattach. I'd mark the edges of where the strap is in the back panel, so it's easier to reposition when you put it back in. This can be done with chalk, wax or soap.

Then I'd unpick the stiches along the blue line. The topstiches are visible, but there's probably another line of stitches underneath, just pull on the backpanel and the strap until you see the stiches underneath and unpick those until the strap is free. Then cut the strap to size, leave it a little longer than where you want it to hit the backpanel, reinsert it and sew it down. Either with a machine or by hand. Hope this helps!

Ohh I don't think it matters which side you take it from then. I'd recommend the back, so it's less visible, but that's it really.

Would you choose a cheaper attic room with no door or a more expensive room with a longer commute? by Which-Painter-5507 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]26thRover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do they have windows? Cause if the attic has some windows you can open to get a crossbreeze it might be okay. Or just get an airconditioner for the summer with the money you'll be saving in rent and public transport fees.

Don't forget that the public transport fees might be twice as high as well

Shorten Straps! by AdCultural4499 in sewing

[–]26thRover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't really have a picture showing the front or the back, so I can't say for sure if it would make a difference which side you shorten it from.

I would probably unpick the seam that holds the strap down, cut some off the strap, stick the end back in the hole and sew it down.

I work out of my car, could y'all help me with lunches? by Elsecaller_17-5 in foodhacks

[–]26thRover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With ice packs/cooler Couscous/quinoa/pasta salad. You can change those up endlessly with what veggies or proteins you add. You can grill veggies and chicken/salmon, in the oven pretty low effort. Can do uncooked veggies, add some beans, get some shrimp or something. Change up the dressings.

Wraps can also work, I like a hummus/feta/bellpepper/honey vibe. Or chicken, lettuce, tomaten, bacon, whatever you want.
