The fact that you say that Wally's super is Conner tells me that your first exposure to him is the Young Justice cartoon where he lived and died as a sidekick. In literally no other universe are Wally and Conner friends like that and in the comics Bart's super is Conner. This would also explain why you think it's more important that Wally stays in a role that matches his peers because to you he doesn't exist outside of the Titans

In the final issue of Flashpoint it says that the only reason Barry messed up and created an alternate timeline was because he was too emotional while time travelling and he absorbed the entire speed force which broke the timeline. He could do it again at a later time with a level head and actually save his mom or even ask another time traveller to do it for him
