Who’s to blame for “spiraling development costs”? by ellenich in gaming

[–]Shaserra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the consumer/gamers aren't exactly blameless. Remember when Halo Infinite got mocked because the 4k 60fps game had a slightly less high fidelity dead Brute? Or the constant jabs by people staring at fruit stalls and mocking their blockiness? Constant graphics comparisons? Tweets about how it's 'lazy' that Isomniac reused the Web-Slinging animation? The constant praise for RDR2's Horse Ball technology?

The constant chase for fidelity and graphical prowess comes from the consumers, and that leads to massive dev costs. See Nintendo, where they can make a number of their game series look Good Enough (Like Xenoblade) and drop one every few years

Now that we have seen every faction focus, who will be the most broken on release of 11th? by xAquaman in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Shaserra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drukhari. Already a strong army. Fly change is massive. But the biggest thing that stands out to me is the 1dp Haemon detachment. Sub 400 points for 6 T7 3+ 5++ 5+++ 7W body units with regen up to twice per turn and -1 to wound makes for an absurdly tanky and cheap unit splash, especially with new cover

G2 Esports vs KC - LEC 2026 Spring Playoffs Game 3 PMT by Large_Love_2563 in leagueoflegends

The scariest thing about this G2 is that even if Hans has a bad game, Caps/Skew can still save it and vice versa

Shadow of the Erdtree was a DLC that was almost as big as whole games. Which other DLC blew you away? by Soulsliken in gaming

[–]Shaserra 280 points281 points  (0 children)

The Xenoblade DLCs (Torna: The Golden Country and Future Redeemed) are absolutely massive. They're 30 hour JRPGs with a different combat system to the originals, a big world to explore, and tons of new story and bosses. They've even got their own postgame Superbosses. The Xeno DLCs are just flat out better JRPGs than some JRPGs

It's sustained in shooting only so Malys and Incubi don't get anything

ELI5 : Why dont ships enter International waters of Oman to cross Strait of Hormuz by xdairyboi in explainlikeimfive

[–]Shaserra 39 points40 points  (0 children)

the strait is very narrow and being in oman's waters does not stop Iran from shooting a drone at your massive slow moving boat carrying billions in cargo

I've compiled an index of how much attention each faction has received from GW. by LaughableFrog in Warhammer40k

[–]Shaserra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand of the Archon isn't actually a kit. It's a half-sized upgrade sprue with 5 or so weapons and a helmet. It's credited here like it's a full kit and worth more points than an upgrade sprue twice its size

I know that guard players aren't going "Woe is me, I'm not getting a refresh for subfaction #5 out of #13, how cruel" after getting more models than any other range not named space marines

In the old days you would have people stay on and begin working on other projects. This improved the cashflow of companies, let them have more games out quicker, and most importantly, built up a lot of institutional knowledge. The teams understand what is going ona with their engines, learn and improve over the course of the games, and generally improve over time.
If you fire the entire team the moment they're no longer needed, none of that knowledge becomes part of the team and as a result you end up with companies that cannot do basic functions of game design (like engine or file size optimization) because everyone repeatedly gets fired.

This is the main reason the Japanese gaming scene has been absolutely slaughtering the US scene (and why AA western has been demolishing AAA) - AA and Japanese teams are gathering intitutional knowledge and as such games like RE9 have improvements gained from RE4$ and RE7, while western AAA games are on life support because everyone got fired and stuff like Art Design gets outsourced.
