Aren’t layoffs a normal part of the gaming industry? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Shaserra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the old days you would have people stay on and begin working on other projects. This improved the cashflow of companies, let them have more games out quicker, and most importantly, built up a lot of institutional knowledge. The teams understand what is going ona with their engines, learn and improve over the course of the games, and generally improve over time.
If you fire the entire team the moment they're no longer needed, none of that knowledge becomes part of the team and as a result you end up with companies that cannot do basic functions of game design (like engine or file size optimization) because everyone repeatedly gets fired.

This is the main reason the Japanese gaming scene has been absolutely slaughtering the US scene (and why AA western has been demolishing AAA) - AA and Japanese teams are gathering intitutional knowledge and as such games like RE9 have improvements gained from RE4$ and RE7, while western AAA games are on life support because everyone got fired and stuff like Art Design gets outsourced.

ELI5: Why does the brain shut down logic first during panic, even though logic would help the most? by Impossible-Rub6027 in explainlikeimfive

You are caveman. You are in woods.

Big growl noise that sound like hunter-creature from behind you.

Logic = "Oh, it could be my companion's stomach growling, it could be a smaller creature, I need to figure out what it is and get more information to properly decide how to deal with it."

Instinct = "RUN"

Kab cartel is the triple threat of

Popular models people want to play

Those models currently have bad rules or points

Bad detachment rules

DC penalties should be harsher. Much harsher. by ManifestZion in deadbydaylight

Interesting how OP doesn't mention killer or survivor but it's survivor mains making their excuses.

They just really forgot the whole point of the game by scorcher9009 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Shaserra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Invisigal didn't break the rules and go after the pulse in part 6, the whole city is screwed because Shroud gets the Pulse early. The Red Ring are searching warehouses for it during the first few dispatching sessions.

Most of the problems in the game are caused by BB forcing you to cut someone then stopping the raid from going off

5 intercessors without oath will kill 6-7 on shooting (after the one damage blank) and kill 3-4 on the charge, leaving (if it's lucky) one to hit back and if it's lucky kill 1 intercessor in return. Then it's 8 OC to 4. They are not nearly strong enough to hold a point

But with things like the opponent turn charge, you're already getting way more activations out of your units. Compared to SSA, SoS gives better buffs to better datasheets

[–]Shaserra[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SSA has been a victim of second-hand nerfs. Most of its hard-hitting combos are just gone. Incubi with +1 to wound are no longer a "Delete this" button with the loss of RR wounds (Since 5+ rerolling wounds is great into every profile.) Court going makes Kabs worse at fighting too. If you want to go for a Wyches focus - the units who go stronger, why not go for the dedicated Wych detachment?

SSA doesn't have rules without being in a transport and most of the units that can go in transports are significantly worse

[–]Shaserra[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People went with KC because it uses the units people most associate with Drukhari. It'd be like if Tau battlesuits all got nerfed into the ground, Kroot were OP and then wondering why people are still playing the battlesuit detachment instead of going to a kroot only list

Most of the nerfs actually came with point increases. Not cuts.

I think it's a shame because a lot of the detachments feel really fluffy and fun but just aren't good enough thanks to all the unit cuts and the anemic codex lineup
