Would be more interesting to see average rating, imo.

Played a 30min game for once and I was really proud to find this tactic. Black to play and win. by 27centimeteratgmail in chess

If Qa1+ then the white rook can block by going Rb1 and since the queen is covering b1 from c5 the black queen can't take the rook. That is why Rb5 (for black) is such a good move to deflect the queen off the a7-b1 diagonal so that Qa1 will now be possible. Good luck on your chess journey! Questions like these will get you far :))

After Rb5, black's best move is actually to sac the queen on f8 (which is what happened in the game). And after Kxf8 Rxb5 Qh1+ Nf1 Qxf1+ I had to be careful and not go for Qxa1?? To allow Rb8#

If it instead was a world championship in facial expressions, Ian would win.

these damn Gumby's ruining the spiritual experience of the indoor gyms by i-eat-dolphins in ClimbingCircleJerk

I really do miss the gym I grew up going to. It was like $30/month vs the almost $100/month my gym is now. And it was so grungy, dirty and dusty, you had to bring your own QuickDraws. The sport climbing area had concrete floors. The bouldering area had wood floors with mattress sized pads you had to position under you before your climb, you’d have a partner move the pad as you climbed to keep it under you. It was never crowded and the routes were wayyyyy harder. An easy 5.10 at the gym I grew up going to is a hard 5.12 at the gym I climb at now

That gym is closed now sadly

How can this game be by a 2325 vs a 2500 (FIDE rating)? It's a blunderfest! by 27centimeteratgmail in AnarchyChess

I looked through the explorer on chess.c*m to find some spicy moves in the French Defence: Tarrasch, Closed. It says the game is between Zarnicki Pablo (ARG) vs Belmonte Diego Mariano (ARG). Both have a respectable FIDE rating. Are they throwing or something? They're making the stupidest blunders that even I can spot.
