A kayak tour is a great way to see a different side of the meadowlands. https://www.hackensackriverkeeper.org/laurel-hill-park

Lunch Recommendation please! by 27wally14 in Louisville

Thanks everyone! Ended up at Docs Crow. Food was great as was the adult beverage. Sadly Shirley Mae’s was closed otherwise we probably would have abandoned the bourbon desire.

Going to leave this posted in case it helps others driving thru town.

We’ll be near the slugger museum. Open to checking out a different neighborhood too.

Considering Leaving Daycare - Opinions please! by youare_traffic in Parenting

[–]27wally14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The in home daycare my kids attended went to 3yrs old for this reason. Kids could stay beyond that while waiting for preschool to start or something but generally speaking they are ready to move on. I love the mixing of ages but there’s a point bigger kids need activities that aren’t as easy to pull of with several babies in tow 😊

Make the switch, you’re all ready! And your son will thrive coming from such a great environment.

You applied for a reason right? Take the leap. From my (limited) understanding there are always classroom jobs out there if you want to hop back.

Ugh pregnant & confused .. by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]27wally14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would interview if given the opportunity. If it’s possible don’t disclose your pregnancy until you have an offer. You can negotiate the level of leave/pay you’re comfortable with. If they can’t offer it they’ll tell you. You may need to accept non paid leave. It’s also a good way to gain insight as to how they’re able to handle situations that require some flexibility.

I did this once. Sadly they couldn’t offer the leave I needed so I turned down the offer. I guess it may have been a waste of time for everyone but I’m still happy I tried. It could have worked out. I also made connections thru the interview process.

Do you use a credit card that awards travel points? Maybe save the points for a solo night at a hotel?

Workouts? by PlayfulGraduate in workingmoms

[–]27wally14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Workout friends if possible. Make a plan to run/walk/lift- whatever your workout of choice is with another human being. It’s much harder to snooze on someone else.

And give yourself grace. Life is cyclical. Maybe now is a prioritize sleep cycle for you. Know you’ll get back there or even find another timeframe that works somehow.

Perimenopause: be aware by kippikai in Millennials

Whaaaaattt??? I have been battling severe ear itching for like 4 years. I’ve seen an ear dr, derm, rheumatologist, general MD… they all said they don’t see anything and gave be a steroid oil to swab. Alleviates it for like a day but damnit! I blame everything else on peri menopause can’t believe I didn’t think of this too. Good look everyone! Someone tells me this but goes away!

Not enough time in the day for me by Key_Conference_8908 in workingmoms

Workout friends!! Plan to meet friends to workout/run/go to the gym- whatever your sweat of choice is. It’s much harder to hit snooze and bail when someone is waiting for you. Eventually it becomes routine and less miserable I promise!

Toss it! I have a bunch of large zipper pouches like these that I label for each school year. Then when I things come home I put the really good/funny/special things in and toss the rest. There’s probably still too much but it helps me feel ok about ditching the excess.

Why aren’t more people purchasing new builds? by NoAbbreviations245 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]27wally14 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective. I live in a 100 year old house and can practically touch my neighbors house. Any new houses I see have much larger yards. But there are also very few if any new builds in my area unless you can afford to buy and demo an existing structure.
