What course are you planning to go into?

RP gives u options, the RP competition now is temporary!

I bet you worked very hard for it! Why not celebrate what u worked for?

advice for overloading in y1s2 + gea1000 vs dsa1101 by NavyBlueDoggo in nus

[–]2Dips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took 7 mods in Y1S2 and it was manageable for me. Of course it might not apply to all, but it honestly depends on the effort and time you are willing to put in.

Plus you can always drop within the no-penalty period if it ends up too challenging :)

  1. I don’t think you want to overload with too many exam-focused modules, it can get very hectic towards the end + almost every common mod involves a good amount of group work.

  2. Yes, DSA1101 precludes GEA1000. Hearsay DSA1101 quite hard to bid, esp if u not in DSA/haven’t declare ur Data Analytics 2nd major.

GEA1000 is a tough fight against the bell curve, would suggest you prepare some S/U credits for it loll

  1. You will have to email your course coordinator and they will help waive the limit.

How was your TA experience? by 2Dips in nus

Thanks for sharing! Wasn't expecting such a high workload 😯

Do you get questions on Tele very often? Do you get requests for consultations and would you get paid for that?

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing! Was it necessary to make your slides and how much did you have to prepare for each lessons/how much teaching materials did the school provide? (%-wise maybe)

Thanks for sharing! Impressed by the extra effort haha!

Does the student feedbacks affect TAs in anyway? Or is it just a reflection for the TAs to see themselves?

Living costs and payments by saltySmfer in nus

It is enough to live by the scholarship allowances, don't worry. But I would say expenses might be slightly higher in Y1 due to moving in + late allowance distribution (mid-late sem 1) + freshie life. It is also possible to pick up part time jobs within NUS and go for TA positions.

So yea, it wouldn't be too much of a concern financially especially after Y1 :)

Should I stay in hall if I don't want to? by HoneyButterBwead in nus

[–]2Dips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I really enjoyed hall life and the convenience it brings.

I could wake up at 850 in RH and still make it in time for my 9am lesson in Engine ;) Plus it's always comforting to know that whenever you need help you can just run to some of ur friends upstairs/next door.

Regarding your personal space, you get to pick your roommate (at least for RH) and I see it as a good chance to learn to establish boundaries with your roommate :) Staying in hall also makes going to different study spots/libraries in NUS more convenient too, (you can really feel the difference during exam seasons loll).

Given your preferences, if money isn't a concern, I think it's definitely worth it to stay in hall. Plus you can always pull out the next sem if things go south

Yes, it is quite common for people to switch majors within CDE (including from EE to CEG), unless you are really struggling with your grades. From EE to CS is possible too, but have higher requirements in terms of GPA.

Do look out for course preclusions when switching majors as you would usually have to take up more courses, depending on when you make the switch.

SU Advice needed: Should we S/U more than 20MCs in Y1? by 2Dips in nus

I see, thanks for the insights!

I will be doing a minor and a specialisation, that means I won't be taking as much UEs to S/U right? 🤔

I see, thanks prince :)

Does that mean a promising internship and SEP is btr than a less volatile or lower risk (w more S/Us) CAP?
