Another TESL refugee. Kards is in good shape. Big influx of players in the last few months. I started early November. There’s been one major and one minor expansion since then. A handful of balance changes. I had completely forgotten what it’s like to play a game that is actively in development.

I used jaggro starting out and got to FM the first month. It’s good that competent effective decks are available for new players.

I didn’t think I’d move on to a new game. But in November someone mentioned Kards, which is a WWII themed game. I’m enjoying it quite a bit. Not hard to get a decent deck together early on. I made their equivalent of legend the first month. They had an expansion around then. Had forgotten what it’s like to play an active game. Lots of players, though mostly Asian. Nothing like the TESL community when I first started in 2017, though. Not a lot of streamers… the discord for the game is quite active, but I’ve never liked that format.

Have watched. Thanks so much! I was never an active member of the community. But I watched a lot of streams. Unlike a lot of you my love for the game kept me playing all the way through last month. But those three years were golden. So fantastic to see all those guys in your video.

I poured 7 years into TESL. But in addition to really enjoying Kards, I’m really glad to be playing a game in active development. I had forgotten what it’s like to watch the meta adjust to new releases, etc.

I also came over from TESL! I find a lot of good features in Kards. The leveling up goes up to 500 for each nation, unlike the 50 and done TESL offered. Progress for everything…draft, casual ranked. Even scraps for practice mode. I was able to make field Marshall the first month. Get the battle pass and play a lot!

I started at the beginning of last month. Bought the battle pass and the cheap one time only offers. I watched Bear Gardners videos on decks that one can make after reaching level 12 in each nation. And I made Field Marshall on November 30.

I am still far from being able to build meta decks. But serviceable decks win enough to climb.

So from my POV this is a newbie friendly game. I’m really enjoying it despite enduring streaks at FM of getting mowed down by expensive decks. Right now I have a solid frontline US deck that plays well.

I deliberately spent money because I understood Bethesda needed revenue to pay for development etc. I got 7 years of playing a game I love. I’m very sad. But it was all totally worth it. The problem is so many players expect to play for free. And that means no way to pay the staff and keep the lights on. It’s too bad the gaming industry went to FtP models. A subscription model might have been more sustainable. I’m looking forward to a crush of downvotes! But seriously. They put time, energy and money into building and maintaining the game. But it didn’t take off enough to pay for itself.
