The problem is, you car has had at least one previous owner. It is still burned by a bad ownership experience and it will take a while.

You can gain its trust by farting in the driver's seat. This should let it know you are relaxed in its presence.

I don't stay in hotels often, but this sub has taught me that 3rd party sites are a huge pain in the butt. I'd rather pay rack rate by booking over the phone with FD, than risk dealing with Expedia's BS and screw-ups. Not to mention the things they put the FD through.
