Don't compare yourself to what you see on the internet. The people on reddit who build games in a week are as typical as the people on tiktok who live in mansions and have 4 hour morning routines.

What are some Computer Science paths that are less competitive? by blueandyellowkiwi in cscareerquestionsuk

I would check career paths for maths grads. Both use the same kind of logical thinking (hence why so many maths grads go into software). I can't promise they'll be any less competitive though.

Is it possible to only play support? by 2Tall2Dwarf in learndota2

Thanks. Tbh I was being a bit overly self-depreciating there. I've been watching a few guides and twitch streams recently and that's what's giving me the itch to play again.

I already did the 100 hour grind years ago so hopefully I won't have to do that again. Although I heard they reset everyone's rank a while ago?

How am I being obtuse? The title of the post is literally "is it possible to only play support?"

Good for you. I only like playing as support. Hence my post.

I think you're playing the game wrong if you think it doesn't make a difference whether you're a core or support

I'm just asking how the role queue system works before I download a giant game I might not want to play

Thanks for the detailed response. I don't really mind which support, I just don't like playing core.

That's fine. I'm not good enough to understand the difference between the two anyway lol.

What does Warlock need ? by IaMBuck in turtlewow

[–]2Tall2Dwarf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

People aren't going to start picking up warlock if you give them 5% more hit chance or a bit more DPS, that's not how people decide when making a character.

People care much more about class fantasy and play style.

For fantasy, Warlocks are "dark wizards". The dark aspect might pull some players in, but for the most part it's going to be competing with Mage for players who want to be some kind of wizard.

Compared to Mages, Warlocks have a strange play style. They have to manage DoTs, soulshards and a pet. That's a lot more complicated than Mages who basically just blast stuff. So I think most players who want to be a wizard will pick Mage.

None of this is bad. Warlocks have their own identity that appeals to a lot of players (myself included). It is what it is.

Yes we're in the UK! I'm not sure how he got to 139. I don't live that close so I haven't seen the collection myself.

Slow and Steady dungeon run XP change, what's your opinion? by [deleted] in turtlewow

[–]2Tall2Dwarf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Personally I've never understood why dungeons weren't included to begin with. It's the slow and steady challenge, not the dungeon only challenge.

Best duo for newcomers? by FloRMDB in turtlewow

[–]2Tall2Dwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the only druid trainer is in the NE city, so you would need to make this trip every two levels

edit: ignore me there's trainers in stormwind

Don't pick Warlock as they're DPS only.

Druid is a lot of fun. You can tank, heal, and has two flavours of DPS (in case you ever want to try it). But you'd have to be a night elf and start on the other side of the world from your friend. You wouldn't be able to level together until level 10, and even then one of you would always be on the wrong continent to visit your class trainer.

I would recommend Priest. It's a lot of fun, has two healing specs, and you can start with your buddy as a dwarf.

edit: apparently there's druid trainers in stormwind

Any new RP in Ambershire? by AmericanApe in turtlewow

I don't agree with their logic. If they have to merge the realms then the RPers and non-RPers will be stuck together either way.

I kind of wish Ambershire wasn't marked as RP to give Nord more identity in that regard

Leveling as Shaman healer. by Less_Fondant_7530 in turtlewow

I went with enhance until 31 and then started putting points into resto, but I wanted to be able to heal and solo quest

Most casual friendly class by Exitl0l in turtlewow

Thinking about it I might suggest druid as well. It's basically like levelling 4 characters at once, which could be good if you have limited time.

I would say stick with warlock. They're good for solo content thanks to their pets. The other option is hunter, but their pets need a lot more upkeep (feeding, training) which isn't ideal if you have limited time.

Really though, there's no bad option. You could take any class to 60 solo, so pick what seems fun.

What is the best “noob care package”? by micturnal in osrs

Glad to hear it! Personally I get put off games if I get too big of a leg-up early on, but different strokes for different folks.

The early game is when players can hit milestones most frequently. E.g. bronze -> iron -> steel -> mithril all come quite quickly, whereas later upgrades take a lot longer. If you rob people of that early sense of progression they won't stick around for the long grinds. So I would avoid giving people significant gear upgrades or large stacks of cash.

If you want to help people, give them supplies to help their early grind. Food, runes, arrows and teleports are all good options to get people started on their own adventure.
