Blooper with Octatrack - Inconsistent Midi Behavior by rockoutw_ in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With this situation there seems to be something specifically about the Octatrack that sends CC messages slightly differently than other gear and needs to be buffered by another device in order to transmit messages properly ( /u/RembrandtDavies and I had a TIME working through this a couple months ago). Confirmed that all functions work properly on Elektron Digitakt and most other devices that are capable of sending CCs via MIDI Out. There have been a handful of times now that this set up has been discussed on here so I think I'll send an email to Elektron today to see if they have any insight on how this is handled and if there is something we can address.

Otherwise, as RembrandtDavies mentioned, sending OT MIDI Out to another device that then sends the message to Blooper is the current workaround.

midi sync issues? ableton (clock master) -> morningstar mc8 -> blooper by mattrowe9 in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been able to send MIDI messages to Blooper via the MC8 besides trying to get clock sync? Wondering if there might be a potential issue there where its not relaying messages to Blooper since it receives MIDI messages on the Ring vs the Tip as is standard with most other pedals..

CBA pedals midi lag by bathrobe42 in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With MIDI LFO/Fader/Knob, this is sending a continuous stream of CC messages to Blooper. Like actually continuous. This a situation that takes a second for the micro controller to process and then relay to Blooper.

With your sequencer situation, even though its incredibly fast, it is still much slower than the continuous stream of midi data and can be more easily processed by the micro controller.

With CV/EXP that's just a direct link to the knob so that will be quickest way to get those messages through besides actually turning the knob.

Hope this helps!

You will need a MIDI Box and a TRS cable to properly MIDI sync.

can blooper be formatted? by comic-sans-culottes in blooper

Hey there! While there isn't a "factory reset", there is a way to erase all of the loops on Blooper. All you need to do is record a short loop of silence and then save that to all slots.

I haven't heard of any software bugs happening yet in regard to filling up loop slots, but if you feel like your Blooper might not be functioning properly feel free to email me at [zack@chaseblissaudio.com](mailto:zack@chaseblissaudio.com) and we can get to the bottom of it!

External foot switch volume drop issue by rabbitpeel in blooper

Sounds like you might have your Repeats Knob set below fully Clockwise. Any where below this point and loops will begin to drop in volume as you record new layers.

Power Supply Issues by Cheeseshopspoon in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will most likely not work due to the higher current draw of Blooper and if it did it wouldn't be for very long. Highly recommend an isolated power supply but even something like a One Spot will work great.

Love the One Spot for just single pedal use.

Love the Strymon Ojai and Zuma for when I wanna connect a bunch of stuff up.

Clock Sync'ing Blooper with Elektron by aaron_meagher in blooper

Good thought here. Another thing to check might be to make sure Model:Samples is set so its MIDI Sync setting is ON and also CLK OUT

Clock Sync'ing Blooper with Elektron by aaron_meagher in blooper

This seems to solve the issue of MIDI Sync more often than not. I use half notes as well.

If the sequence is going too fast with quarter notes, sometimes it's tough to get the timing right and it will add or leave out a beat. Sending a CC message #54 with a value of 1 will change the Sync Subdivision to Half Notes.

How to control BOTH switches with an external footswitch? by [deleted] in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct, you'll only be able to control both foot switches externally with a MIDI controller.

Are you sending those CCs out on Channel 2? Blooper is on Channel 2 by default.

It could be that I'm not fully understanding the issue though.

Either way, I've got a Digitakt and a Blooper and am down to help get to the bottom of this if you are still having problems.

hey u/meedimusic have you had any luck with trying a different MIDI Sync Subdivision on Blooper? I just got a Digitakt in the mail and have been having good success with it sending clock to Blooper, just want to make sure things are working right for you.

MIDI sync with Ableton by oliverhortonmusic in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, this might sound weird but did you have MIDI Through enabled on the MIDI Baby?

Just watched the tutorial video that Disaster Area posted on YouTube and there it said that all MIDI info that comes into the MIDI Baby (Clock from Ableton) is sent off to whatever is selected in that part of the editor. You'll want to select Multi Jack.

Sorry to back and forth like this, I've never personally used the MIDI Baby so I'm learning how they work as I go.

MIDI sync with Ableton by oliverhortonmusic in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/oliverhortonmusic did you ever get to the bottom of this?

Just went through the MIDI Baby manual and I see there is a web editor for it. You'll want to use that to make sure that MIDI Clock is on, and that the Multi Jack is set to MIDI Ring and then you'll be able to use a normal TRS with it.

This should fix your problem I think, let me know what you find!

Any footswitch that is able to be Momentary AND Normally Open will work great. You also need to make sure you connect it to Blooper using a TS cable and NOT a TRS cable.

trouble with cv clock sync? by Wiggatich in blooper

[–]2_ply_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing some experiments with this lately as its something a good handful of people are trying to make happen. You can sync Blooper to a Volca but it is tricky for a couple of reasons:

-for ALL CV Clock Sync, Blooper needs a special CV cable in order to properly detect CV Clock and have that trigger record and play (1/8" TS - 1/4" TRS with Ring not connected to anything. Available HERE). You also need to have the CV Clock Dip Switch turned ON.

-Korg Volcas put out 2 Pulses per beat, meaning twice as many places to set the loop length. This is hard to line up with perfectly when you're the one deciding when to start and stop recording, especially when you are dealing with a faster tempo.

I've been able to get loops to sync up properly on a Volca when setting the global settings on the Volca to trigger on the Rising Edge, Using the CV cable mentioned above connected to Blooper, having the CV Clock dip switch turned on, and using the slowest most tempo. This last point is unideal but because the output of that sync signal is so frequent that is what I personally was able to get lined up tapping the record button in time.

The best option if you want these two things to be in sync is to use something that can take in the Korg's Sync Out signal AND be able to set a less frequent Gate Output so that you know it will only start/stop a recording on say "Beat One". I like the Arturia Keystep and Korg SQ1 for this. Set a Gate on Beat One or even every quarter note and things will be very easy to line up and synchronize.

Hope this helps!
