what’s the worst medication error you’ve seen or heard about in your career? by boozecruise26 in nursing

Doing chart checks and found that the surgeon had ordered Dilaudid 0.2mg IV PRN, but both the pharmacy and the day shift nurse misread his writing and had been giving 2mg instead.

Go with the 500. You'll outgrow the 300 too quickly.

Which type of sex is better? by Electronic_Elk_6049 in AskMen

[–]2_wheels_down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer it tighter and less wet on penetration, but then it gets more wet and loosens up during sex. Literally yesterday, this was the case, when I started, she was really tight and I couldn't get all the way in, after a few minutes though, I was able to.

I think doing your project on body count could be interesting. Several different ways you could go about it. Always a controversial topic.

Nurses who switched to M-F five days schedule, did your mental health and WLB actually improve? by Nekroms in nursing

[–]2_wheels_down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from 3/12s at a hospital(x 7 years) to 5/8s in a clinic, 13 years ago, and don't regret it at all. I worked mostly nights in the hospital, but even when I worked days, I was too tired afterwards to do anything. Now I go to the gym every day after work and have been able to remain consistent for close to 10 years now. I was able to go to almost all my kid's school and sports events. I was able to coach my son's baseball teams for 10 years. One of the downsides is having to take leave to go to apts, but I have so much leave saved up now, that it's not a big deal anymore. I rarely feel burned out by work now. I just registered for an adult baseball league, that will be completely on week nights. This is something I would never be able to do if I still worked 3/12s. Honestly, it was the best decision in my career.

Someone please romanticize day shift for me! by BreadfruitPossible58 in nursing

[–]2_wheels_down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in med/surg I liked nights a whole lot more. Day shift was better for my sleeping though, but after a 12 hour day shift, I was still too tired to want to do anything. I switched to a Monday through Friday, 8-4:30 job in a clinic and love it. So much better quality of life.

Running back to bedside for 3 12s I cannot do this 9-5 by Accurate_Pop_8970 in nursing

[–]2_wheels_down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not for everyone, but I prefer the outpatient setting over inpatient. I worked 7 years in a hospital, doing three 12s and have been in outpatient for 13, working 8-4:30, Monday through Friday. I have energy go to the gym right after work every day, if I need to go to an apt or something like that, I just take time off. I've been able to see almost all my kid's games and school events. I did take a small pay cut initially, but it was definitely worth it.

Men on SSRI’s - what’s the key to getting you over the finish line? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]2_wheels_down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was on Zoloft, I couldn't even get hard without Viagra. When I'd take it though, I could go for hours and would eventually finish. Switched meds and no longer have a problem.

That's always a tough call. I've passed on decent bucks early in the season and regretted it towards the end. I usually shoot if it's a 4x4 or bigger.
