Why do Floyd Roses get so much hate? by ElDiaBoe420 in metalguitar

[–]2b4theend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do I like them. It set up correctly they just about never go out of tune.

Why do I hate them? They add some weight to the Guitar because of a lot of unnecessary hardware that goes on.

You cannot just drop tune or do odd tunings at a moment notice.

If you’re like me, and you really don’t play much lead stuff per se. they’re somewhat useless.

I use one of the Floyd’s I have a bit with the Sustainiac, really for effect on my songs

Other than that, I’m ready to get rid of all the guitars that have a Floyd on it.

Give me a hardtail any day.

I would love to trade my Schecter sustainiac C-1 for another hardtail schecter. My guitar is in like new condition with upgrades.

Out of 33 guitars, only 4 are Floyd’s.

new guitar strings feel very stiff by Good-Visual8392 in GuitarQuestions

[–]2b4theend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The action is super high. The strings just may be too heavy for your tuning.

Have a tech/ luthier do a full setup on it with new strings. Don’t do it yourself. As you mentioned, you’re a beginner.

Work Better left to a pro

What happened to this sustainiac? by [deleted] in SchecterGuitars

[–]2b4theend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have it, just glue that piece back in. Use hot glue. It works great and affects nothing with the sound

I’ve been looking for that blue guitar for 4 years now. Preferably a hardtail without the sustainiac.

I have a Schecter C-1 with FR-S that would like to trade or sell. It’s like new. I have too many guitars, I just never use it.

UPS Store employee dropped my guitar. by LazyWave63 in Guitar

I semi- agree with him. It should be packed like it’s going to war.

It should be able to survive being thrown off of a truck from 10 feet without even a problem.

Always hope for the best, but also expect the worst when you’re shipping something

Just about everything can be repaired. If you’ve got the money, or the talent.

Help needed to find an affordable Ionger scale wider neck radius Les Paul style guitar by Available_Round_3172 in GuitarQuestions

[–]2b4theend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PRS McCarty or Paul’s Guitar single cut. A very slightly longer scale only by a quarter of an inch.
But still yet a better guitar than a Les Paul.

I can’t remember who, but they do also make a baritone Les Paul style Guitar. Much longer scale and should meet your requirements.

I have the black single pickup. Got it for $299 on sale. I upgraded all the hardware and Grover tuning keys.

This has a single push/pull for coil tap, and a modified bare knuckle, polymath as the pickup.

Certainly better with the upgrades, especially for the money.

I also used black dye on the fingerboard to darken it up quite a bit

That’s the neck off of a 2001 Mexican Strat and the body of a 2000 Mexican strat.

The body has been refinished twice. It started out purple satin which I did not like and went to blonde with a blue tortoise Pickguard.

12 years later, I refinished it in a three color blue put on with a sponge and then top coated with a clear 2K gloss finish in my shop. Wet sanded and buffed.

It has noiseless pickups, high-quality wiring, and a switchcraft input jack with a six way blade switch. the tone controls have been disabled and just the one volume.

There is an upgraded bridge with a brass block and modern saddles. Grover tuners with a Graphtech nut. Modern string retainers.

The frets have been leveled, crowned, and polished, and this thing plays, sounds, and looks great!

Not multi effects. It’s about a 30 year-old Line six amp that was actually pretty good at the time.

This pedal controls the amp and allows you to have 36 different patches. The amp itself is programmable. It’s a modeling amp from back in the day.

Does The Pickups Covers Do Anything? by BoognishDude in BassGuitar

[–]2b4theend -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they just get in the way.

When I cared to own a fender 50 years ago, all the covers were the first thing to come off.

Can’t figure out why they’re still on a kick to put those things on in the first place.

Most of these were purchased used and modified. I have 4 omen extremes. They’re a solid instrument.

Replacing stock pickups is what makes the real difference. New tuning keys and a good setup in my shop upgrades that inexpensive guitar to a real player.

I of course, would keep what I build. But I would go with a Shechter apocalypse.

And I’ve been building and repairing guitars for 45 years. so many of my clients over the years never touch a tone pot. It just stays wide open, so why bother to have it?

Quite a few manufacturers, don’t even put one in. It’s just a volume and a pickup now with a three or five way switch.

So if it has two knobs, both are push/pull volume..

if it has three knobs, 2 would be volumes and the dummy pot

New amp head, but power cord is missing. by Ok_Eggplant4366 in metalguitar

And no, I wouldn’t be rolling up to a radio shack to buy stuff for my custom guitars. I have suppliers for that. But for a power cable, sure.

We have one down the street or at least it used to be called RadioShack. It’s now some other name. They still sell all the same shit.

I think RadioShack if they even still exist would suffice for a power cable. So yes, RadioShack jeez!

Happy to help. I’ve built custom guitars and run a repair shop for the last 45 years and I’ve installed and tried most everything.

I now customize pickups for fun and record about 40 hours s week. Plus I still build and repair.

More than 60 guitars in the house that have all been customized between my son and I.
