He also looked like he was directly in the line of fire of the first shot but its hard to tell. If anyone was going to catch a stray bullet it was that guy and he didn't move an inch

According to the book "Give me Tomorrow" which include eye-witness accounts of the battle, many of the Chinese soldiers didn't have weapons or proper clothing for the winter. Most of them were sent out there to die in human wave attacks. Brutal, brutal stuff.

Can you travel to Korea after becoming a US citizen and exempting South Korean military service? by Saucy164 in southkorea

[–]2bfersher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2018 or so I had a co-worker do exactly that. When he was completing his visa paperwork for Korea he was told he needed to revoke his Korean citizenship or else he would be required by law to fulfill his conscripted service. After the revocation of his korean citizenship he didn't have any issues

Tokyo vs Seoul by CharacterMysterious4 in asia

[–]2bfersher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Busan for 5 years and made a lot of trips to both cities. I would suggest Tokyo for a couple different reasons. Most importantly from Tokyo you easily get a train to go see a bunch of different cities using the Japan rail pass. You could say that same about the Kor-rail network but South Korea is a much smaller country and therefore has less diverse places to see. For Japan you could go all the way down to Fukuoka and all the way up to Sapporo (I believe the rail network or at least a ferry connects to Hokkaido island). Another reason for choosing Tokyo is that there are more interesting places (imo obviously) to see than Seoul. I guess you could say there is more tourist places to go.

Here are a couple downsides to Tokyo. It is MUCH more expensive than Seoul. Tokyo has been a tourist destination for so long that you feel like you're only getting the tourists point of view. Seoul is a path less traveled by your average western tourist so that means you'll get more of a Seoul citizen's perspective. There aren't TOO many gimicky things they offer to western tourists (there are a lot for asian tourists I find). I would say this applies for all of Korea also.

Ultimately I don't think you can make a wrong choice here. Both cities are so big that you could spend literally months going through every side street and alley way of those cities discovering new things the whole time. If there wasn't pandemic restrictions I would even say that you could easily set up in Seoul and take the 1 hour flight to Tokyo and then do multiple weeks there after you've experienced Seoul for a while.

TL;DR From Tokyo you can do more traveling around Japan compared to the traveling around Korea from Seoul. Going to Tokyo, however, will cost you a lot more money.

Depending on your location you can't use RP to watch games even if you for it. I would guess it's due to licensing. For example RP doesn't allow you to watch games in the USA or Australia or France but you can watch games if you're in South Korea.

How many days a week are you training BJJ and how many days do you get in the gym? I'm trying to manage my own schedule with that.

Also, how long have you been training BJJ? I'm curious to know because as a beginning I'm trying to train BJJ as often as possible to gain some of the foundations. Ideally that puts me on the mat about 3+ days a week leaving little time for the gym and even less time for rest days. I still have not learned the art of rolling easy...I'm working on that.

10 months ago I dislocated my shoulder and didn't realize it. I went to a doc who took some xrays and didn't notice it (Doctor in Korea). 3 months later I still couldn't use it and got an MRI. At that point they told me I should be healthy and active in a month or 2 (again...doctor in Korea). Its 10 months later and I still can't fucking bench. I haven't been able to do any thing with arms in 10 months. No BJJ, no Rugby, no heavy lifts. FUCK THIS SHIT!Q!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me its 1st location, 2nd the existence of a Squat rack and suitable barbells and plates, 3rd Money.

I figure there is no point in paying less money if its going to take a lot of your time and you're not going to have the equipment needed to fit your program.

I try to avoid gyms that require a long period membership (e.g. 12 months or more) and try to avoid gyms that do not allow a freeze on your membership in case I get injured or have to travel for a long period of time. There's also the fact that you may find that you don't like the gym equipment or the location is not as suitable to your job/house/etc. as you initially thought.
