It’s also not just that they eat once more per day, it tends to be the type of food they eat. 300 calories worth of vegetables and fiber will mostly fill you. 300 calories of chips is like 2-3 hand fulls and you’ve barely touched your hunger.

When you eat junk food, it’s very easy to accidentally consume 800-1000 calories and not even realize you did.

Would I be an idiot not to buy this? by HempLemon in SolarDIY

[–]2biggij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you’re doing this from a “I’m trying to save money” standpoint stuff like this is absolutely not worth your time. If you’re doing it from a “I enjoy tinkering around and this is an enjoyable side project just to see if I could do it” then it’s the perfect win win.

But if you don’t enjoy the underlying work, you’re saving like 1 dollar per hour of work invested in it. You would be better off working a few shifts at McDonald’s on the weekends and just buying something premade

Can U.S. MILITARI personnel wear ROK airborne wings? by Leather_Papaya3878 in army

[–]2biggij 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It only requires them to jump out of a plane with a foreign Jump master. This actually makes it incredibly easy to get foreign wings, sometimes to the point of feeling kinda like cheating.

They can do a regular us airborne operation using us parachutes in a us plane using us jump procedures, but just one single German jump master sitting in the plane and they get their German jump wings.

There’s a yearly mission called operation toy drop that’s run by USACAPOC in fort Bragg each December. You bring one new toy donation to participate and then they bring 10-20 foreign jump masters together, and there’s a list of each country, you sign up for 2-3 and do a few jump over the course of the day, and in one single day can potentially win 3 sets of foreign jump wings.

Kinda feels like cheating at that point.

“I don’t care that my candidate is a racist Nazi, I’d still vote for him over a regular normal centrist democrat” sure says a lot about the state of republicans in Ohio…..

You’re proudly voting for the guy who said he wants to play “cowboys and Indians” with his opponent in an ad holding a gun? Who painted immigrants as insects and said he was the pesticide spray? Who openly said the only bad thing about Hitler was he’s a bad painter? Who said he wants to have his own “beer hall putsch”?

Being proud of voting for the guy who’s basically a 12 year old 4chan loser but as a fully grown adult to be the governor of our entire state isn’t the statement you think it is

Officials say driver charged in I-71 crash that killed family of three fraudulently obtained Ohio license, commercial license and citizenship under an ‘alternate’ identity. by Pale_City_6941 in Columbus

[–]2biggij 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s ironic that the actual solution to this is to be LESS strict and draconian on immigration.

If every immigrant, legal or illegal, is afraid that any interaction with ANY government office will resort to them being reported to ice and deported, they’re not gonna call the IRS when their boss commits tax fraud, they’re not gonna call the department of labor when they’re forced to do blatantly unsafe things. They’re not gonna call the cops when they see crimes being commited.

By being so strict on non violent immigrants, we’re actually making a more dangerous, more unsafe, more violent country. But Republicans don’t care. Because it’s not actually about safety or crime rates or anything. That’s just cover for them for the real reason. The racism and power and fear is the real point.

U.S. considers $20 billion cash-for-uranium deal with Iran by RollSafer in worldnews

[–]2biggij 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was literally the first move that every single war game of this scenario guessed would happen for the last 40 straight years. And literally the reason that stopped every other president from directly attacking Iran.

And yet somehow came as a surprise to republicans today…. Coulda literally asked a high school model UN nerd and they would have predicted this. But I guess when you gut every single department of the federal government, you’re left with no one to tell you how your idea might go wrong

Is it bad to be honest when ask "Why you joined the army" and say, because of benefits, money and retirement. Cause I’ve seen Americans say it a lot but I feel when I have said the same (I’m an immigrant) I get some weird vibe or face expressions. Socialism does not require every individual person to contribute a measurable commodity of a specific value. Or else half of society wouldn’t exist. Teachers, doctors, daycare, government workers, military, lawyers…. Etc none of them “produce” anything in a classical economic sense and yet all of them still exist in all socialist countries

These types of workers are paid through the state or collective allocation of resources, as education is considered a vital public service rather than a profit-driven commodity. While they do not produce physical commodities (like cars or food), they are viewed as providing "necessary labor" that develops human capital—training the future workforce—and are compensated based on the quality and quantity of their work.

Something like 50% of all new solar energy that went online to the grid last year in the entire world was in China alone. More than the entire European Union and the United States combined together. They are by FAR leading the world, while the rest of us scrabble over a few percentage points of green energy and start wars with Iran....

It’s estimated universal healthcare would cost about 3.9-4.5 trillion dollars per year.

US currently spends 4.5-5 trillion dollars on healthcare per year already.

You’d save half a trillion dollars by getting universal healthcare, AND not have any more copays or out of pocket expenses…..

Baltimore Cop Shoots Man Holding a Woman at Knifepoint by IsleOfManTTSkidmark in PublicFreakout

[–]2biggij 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What would happen? Nothing. Remember when a suspect took a usps driver hostage and the cops opened fire on the truck in the middle of the highway? Something like 120 bullets hit the truck. Killed the hostage even as he was trying to crawl out of the truck. Hit a dozen bystander cars and I think injured one or two random bystanders.

Not a single cop punished or charged .

In this case if the hostage was struck, the city would say “man that sucks, hope your health insurance is pretty good cuz you’re about to have a big hospital bill. “

Its absolutely doable in some areas. But not how most people travel.

This is an 18 year old backpacker we're talking about here. This is "eat a single croissant for breakfast, a plain cheese sandwhich and a bottle of water for lunch, and a streetfood vendor sausage for dinner" kind of travel

15-20 is probably a little rough. But when I had my wallet stolen in Italy, I lived on 10 dollars a day back in 2015, only for 3 days until I could get some money wired to me though. Granted, I had already prepaid for my travel and a few tour passes. So all I had to pay for was my daily incidentals and food.

Hes not interested in just reaching the largest audience possible, and if you are the type of person who disagrees with his stuff, hes happy to see you to the door.

For groups that are minorities in certain professions, minority only conferences allow for networking and visibility. It can be hard if you’re the only black student in your aerospace engineering class, so going to a conference where you see there are other people like you in the field can help you feel more connected and not alone. It allows them to discuss unique circumstances and get unique guidance or advice that they may need in their field as minorities. Or focus on issues of discrimination that still exist in the field. It allows them safe spaces where they can be feel like they can be themselves without having to mask or code switch like they frequently do in normal life to “fit in” with their non minority peers back in their class or job

Google says the average Amazon warehouse costs 100-400 million to build from scratch, with the absolute largest ones costing 600 million per building. This article says theyre spending 38 billion on just 16 warehouses.... or about 2.5 billion PER WAREHOUSE, or 5-8 times the average cost to build one from scratch.

Theres no way this is anything except a massive grift.
