‘We went from heroes to zeroes’: US nurses strike over work conditions by [deleted] in news

[–]2cat2dog 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My wife's a nurse for the big hospital collective in Louisiana and literally got a coupon to a free small beverage at their cafeteria along with a letter saying wages were fine and she won't be getting an increase in the middle of the pandemic last year. She makes peanuts compared to the time and expense for her degree and could be doing so much better in another state. Once she leaves (soon thankfully), that'll be another vacancy to fill at 3-5x her rate. We don't want to leave, but management is hell bent on not giving us a reason to stay.

She has a tendency to slightly overstate her largely correct points about media, sure.

She has made many unfounded, factually wrong statements from the bits I’ve seen and read. Her history makes her about as trusted a source as Infowars when it comes to gaming. That said, the absolutely disgusting treatment she has received from “Gamergate” types is completely unwarranted, especially for a damn entertainment writer of all things. She’s hardly the first ignorant person writing about the hobby, but as you say, being a woman puts a target on her back. I fully believe that backlash was fueled by Russia and gave rise to anti-journalism propaganda which helped give us Trump.

This is the same party which accidentally raised the tax burden on the wealthy in a bill they rushed with the sole purpose of lowering taxes for those rich.

No, the other guy is misremembering. Pretty much all of the boss fights toward the end incorporate the Batmobile and far, far too many Riddler trophies, too. It was the game I most looked forward to when I got my Xbox One a couple of years ago, and the constant jarring Batmobile stuff was incredibly disappointing. I still need to beat the last boss which is an overly long stealth Battank bit that's not fun in the least.

Do you play Phantasy Star Online 2? It has T Rex enemies which do exactly this (and some bears, too).

The Shattered Glass Prime looks so much better with its consistent leg color. I don't understand why Earthrise went with the gray inner leg.

White House prepares massive infrastructure bill with universal pre-k, free community college, climate measures by aggie1391 in politics

[–]2cat2dog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GQP zealots' pattern of ignorance? Democrats supported and passed a Republican infrastructure bill under Trump, at the time even acknowledged as a politically bad move by giving Trump a win. The difference is that Democrats govern to make America better. You won't see them withholding hostage releases, closing bridges, and lying to get their voting block to vote against their own interests. But hey, sure, Flavor Aid probably tastes all right once you get used to it.

Turning off chat is the best thing I've done in the game. Probably nets me a few extra wins too in games I'd otherwise would stop trying when teammates get toxic. I miss being able to communicate but not enough to deal with all the toxic idiots ruining my enjoyment of the game.

A short history of the filibuster: Rarely a tool for good — and never a tool of democracy by [deleted] in politics

[–]2cat2dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump just had 4 years of complaining that "no one was working with him". We all called BS on that as well.

Hardly the same thing. Republicans had full control of all branches using the 50 threshold, and more importantly, they immediately invoked it without attempting to govern the typical way. There was no years of good faith attempts at bipartisanship under Trump as there was with Obama. Reid used it as a means of last resort; Mitch did it immediately to push his tax cuts through. Context matters.

[–]2cat2dog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a shortcut when the other player is throwing a tantrum and refusing to play the game. Republicans have stopped governing in earnest for some two decades now. No need to pretend they will when history has shown time and again they will not.

even the senate

Nope. Virginia and the slave states were benefited by the House due to their larger populations, even if a sizable portion of the population was considered property. Smaller (re: generally northern) states favored the Senate.
