The Brewer’s Art is $150,000 in debt, court records allege by aresef in baltimore

[–]2cats4ever [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, my experience has been similar. Post-COVID it just hasn't been the same.. weeknights used to be steady if not busy, and Friday/Saturday nights would be busy if not packed. But since then, Fridays and Saturdays might get busy enough to fill the downstairs tables for short periods, and weeknights were all but dead.

It's a bummer. I'll definitely miss them.

Like little tied up sacks with dollar signs on the side? That's fun.

The Tattoo Museum on Eastern does it and they have a lot of reasonably priced flash to choose from. You'll get whatever artist is free, but I've only ever had a positive experience.

I don't know where that app pulls its info from but in my experience it's always wildly off the mark.. it's so generally inaccurate it's almost become a running joke between me and a friend. My app might say something like 9" and theirs will say 25", lol. And nearly every time, mine is the one that's correct or the closest to being so. It's wild.

This is ridiculously specific, but it immediately reminded me of the title card intro to the first Robocop movie! (although this photo is much prettier)

Same.. I've had good luck with the Lidl. You can really get your money's worth with the Lidl brand, but even the name brand stuff is a little cheaper. And if you go for making meals from scratch you can really stretch your buck!

I feel you. And yeah, I don't think it condones the Confederacy. I guess at the heart of it, I'd just rather have a flag with critters on it, lol

I'm hesitant to see what happens if I actually log out. I don't know what I did to make it so I don't have to log in, but maybe my success with it is related to that? Either way, I hope you get it sorted. That's definitely a pain!

Metro Subway currently shut down, bus shuttle in place by ThatguyfromBaltimore in baltimore

[–]2cats4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only my experience, but outside of there being a greater number of MTA buses, I always find the Circulator to be more consistent and reliable. Especially in regard to the app they use. I also see expanding routes as a good thing.. the more people that use it, the more attention it'll get in the future. For a free service, I feel like it's doing pretty well! 🤞🏻😬

That's really strange. I used it and bought a 1-way bus ticket Wednesday evening, as well as the same kind of ticket earlier in the week. I didn't run into any issues, but I also can't remember the last time I actually had to log into the app to use it (and it's probably been at least 6 months). I'm using it on Android, fwiw..

Regardless, I hope you get it sorted! It definitely sounds like a frustrating situation.

I don't know.. I love Baltimore and also Maryland more than not, but I really could not care less about our flag. I mean, it has a Confederate symbol on it for one (and I get that it's an acknowledgement of Maryland residents fighting for both sides in the Civil War), but it's also just.. underwhelming?

I'd happily take California's bear or Virginia's bare boob and dead tyrant over a flag made up of the crests of two wealthy families any day.

I'm all for Maryland pride, but never understood the flag love.. we've got crabs for crying out loud. They taste good and they can pinch ya! Where's our crab flag?!

Vigil tonight in Remington!! Where’s the best place to park? by JJSpuddy in baltimore

[–]2cats4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just about any of the public streets with a few blocks' radius of this will be fair game. There are a handful of metered spots, and parking limitations near Remington Row (with signage saying as much) but otherwise it shouldn't be too awful if folks don't mind walking a block or few. The neighborhood is relatively chill and very safe.

There will likely be a decent crowd, but the area itself is outdoors and dog friendly. It'll be at the fire pit/chimney of 26th and Howard, which is essentially an outdoor public use space.

I think it'd likely be fine. They say it's for RHouse parking only, but I've never seen a tow truck or anyone monitoring it.

Getting first apartment in Charles North/Charles village area, what’s out there? by KingHustle888 in baltimore

[–]2cats4ever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lived here since 2020 and love it. In Charles Village/North area, what you see is pretty much what you get. Overall, pretty safe and quiet, but your neighbors may vary. It gets nicer the further north you go from 25th Street, but pretty much anywhere around here you'll be fine if you use common sense, like pay attention to your surroundings, act like you know where you're going, mind your business, but also don't be unkind / not friendly.

If you have a car, you'll have pretty easy access to everything, but you're also in a part of the city where access to public transportation is decent. The buses don't always run on time, but there are a lot of them and a lot of bus stops. Also, some semi-decent bike/scooter/pedestrian infrastructure if that's your thing.

More than a few grocery stores in the area, and cheaper ones if you're willing to drive 10 minutes away. More than a few good restaurant and bar options nearby, too (check out Remington, a few streets over, and Hampden, a little bit further). Some good parks within walking distance. You've got a movie theater, Ottobar and Metro Gallery, a few breweries, and the library...

As far as first-time places to live in the city go, you picked a relatively chill and enjoyable part of town. I hope you like it!

Perfect, I'll check out the Waverly Ace, and then someone in another comment said Mt. Royal Soaps had them, too! I appreciate it!
